I was just starting the process of updating my Central Air System. MacFarlane install team was great in answering any questions I had and made sure I knew all the options. The technicians that came out to perform the install were professional and courteous. I will be calling MacFarlane again for any service.

Review which James R. Rice, 56 Fenno Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, attempted to submit to Better Business Bureau site on 22 March 2016: Darren C. of MacFarlane Energy, who arrived with his son (a MacFarlane employee in training, I think), did what so far seems to be a superb job in addressing a problem with my steam heating system, installed by MacFarlane in Nov 2014. That showed up as loud banging noises from the pipes (as the heating cycle began), and also caused a filthy oily liquid to be spurted out from some of the radiator valves, marring nearby walls, floors and household items. The problems developed, I think, because the MacFarlane personnel who installed the new system cautioned me to not add water to the system (hence not to bleed water off), but failed to adequately drain the pipes and remove a scum of oily liquid in them from the previous heating system. Darren C. did drain that oily liquid, at least as much as possible by bleeding fluid from the unit, and that seems to have made a great difference. Time will tell but, tentatively, it seems that Darren's approach, rooted in thoughtful basic thinking about the heating system, has resolved or at least significantly reduced the problem. He and his son are also very polite and pleasant people to deal with. Additional note for MacFarlane Energy officers: That excellent work of Darren C. recognized, I do now suspect that we have had more than a year of difficulty with the system (e.g., unpleasantly loud banging noises, filthy fluid sprayed from valves and marring walls, floors, and household items nearby, uneven heating) because the MacFarlane personnel in charge of the initial installation (1) failed to adequately drain the pipes and remove a scum of oily liquid in them from the previous heating system, and (2) gave me such overstated and imprecise advice about adding water to the system (including the statement that any such adding would invalidate the warranty for some systems) that I didn't dare drain off the obviously filthy water on my own

Was initially upset at the leak from our oil tank caused by MacFarlane's serviceman improperly changing a filter. However, I appreciated the response in addressing my customer complaints to clean up the large oil spill staining my basement.

Your employee was doing maintenance on our oil tank and furnace. He incorrectly replaced the filter. His shoddy work was acknowledged by a follow up visit by a second MacFarlanr employee who came to assess and fix the problem. As a result of your poor work, I know have a 2 ft by 2ft oil stain in my basement that I cannot remove. This was caused by your employee who did not properly replace the filter thereby causing an oil leak that was not discovered until 6 days later. The second MacFarlane employee who came to fix the original leak diasgnosed and fixed the filter issue but there was no offer to clean the oil stain. The entire situation was quite frustrating and disappointing given that it was your company that created the problem during routine maintenance.

MacFarlane Energy has always sent competent service personnel. This time, in addition to an annual service call there were question rais d by a recent home inspection. Darren C. Listened attentively and addressed all questions with care, examining all areas involved. He also noted a couple of the heating systems components that were not working at capacity and replaced them in addition to providing the most thorough cleaning and inspection. What a pleasant, competent professional!

Great experience. The heat on our second floor stopped working overnight. I called MacFarlane -- with whom we have a service agreement for our heating systems -- at 8:30am, and a knowledgeable service tech (Rob M.) was at our house an hour later. Rob quickly diagnosed and resolved the problem, even replacing a valve that may have been the cause as a preventive measure for the future. In addition to being very skilled, Rob was also friendly and professional -- a pleasure to have in our home. All in all, this experience is a perfect example of why it's a good idea to have a service arrangement with a service-oriented, professional firm like MacFarlane.

The high standard of customer service we first experience with the late Peter MacFarlane right to Rich L has been of superior quality. We have never been disappointed. The expert knowledge of the entire team has always impressed us. I would give them highest marks and recommend them to others without equivocation.. We have had MacFarlane Energy for a while and they are so reliable. They are serving Massachusetts residents with heating oil delivery and service. The staff have been a great experience -knowledgeable, professional and helpful. We are always very pleasant with their service in between maintenance and call in for service. I had a leak on Friday March 4th from my hot water tank. I called McFarland energy and they came down right away. I got a new stainless steel hot water heater, they did a professional job,and I was happy that they stopped my old heater from flooding my basement. Anyway I am happy with your company's service.
