Had Adam come for a kitchen sink that would not drain. Adam came at the time that I had scheduled for. After his assessment of the problem he gave me my options to repair with careful attention to cost/time to finish job. I felt he was very honest and trustworthy. Dave B was my tech, and he did a great job of keeping me apprised of what he was doing, costs, etc. He also provided some welcome feedback about my unit and even gave me some information on my water heater. Tom H, from Armbrust Plumbing in Wheaton just left my house and he was a five star plus asset to the Armbrust and to the job he did at my house. He made excellent recommendations, the explanations he gave made concrete sense and the job he did was excellent. He was a good communicator, polite and on-time. He took off his shoes before entering the house, explained the bill; line by line and encouraged me to call the shop if I had any questions or problems. Called Armbrust, looking to book a service call for a balky water heater ASAP. Courteous staff in the office got us scheduled the same day. Our technician was Jeff Bizek. He was very professional, polite, took his shoes off without being asked! Jeff scoped out the problem, fixed it in short order, and gave an explanation that I could actually understand. In addition to fixing and explaining the problem, Jeff gave us a recommendation on some things to think about in the near future, also suggested we think about a new water heater given ours is 15 years old. Tom works under Rich Armbrust, a man of strict integrity and customer orientation. Rich organizes his company so that we understand the problem he is to solve and then designates one of his expert workers to solve it. Tom Heyman let us know that he had worked for Armbrust for 31 years because of the quality leadership. So Tom Heyman was in our house parts of 3 days, doing the rough-in for a complete revision of our bathroom, plus installing a kitchen faucet. Tom was patently courteous and helpful, even when the needed help wasn't necessarily his responsibility. When I had a question, he took time to explain the problem and how he was to fix it, showing me the pipes, etc. to be changed and the valves to be installed. He worked rapidly because of his 31 years experience, but also because he feels a responsibility to give a lot for his time. On top of the quality work we first called on Armbrust Plumbing to perform, Tom pointed out other potential problems. He did not press us to make the changes, but took time to show us the issues--what would happen if we didn't change, what would happen if we did. Specifically, when he was changing out pipes in our 60-yr-old house, he found elbows and sections of galvanized piping to be rusted nearly shut, in one case a silly effort at repair someone else had performed to try to repair a leak. We decided to eliminate all galvanized pipe, at Tom's recommendation, and are happy we did, since, when the pipe came down, we saw that we could not see Tom's flashlight at the end of an 8 ft. length of the old galvanized. We wondered how we were even getting water (now we have good pressure), and we wondered what damage to our health that old pipe was causing. So, we are pleased that Tom didn't just blindly do what he was sent to do, what we originally asked, but helped us see how the rusted pipes needed attention--a situation we were unable to note. Well, my review is for Tom H. The most honest and knowledgeable plumber I have ever met. He is always right on and is totally honest about what needs to be done. Unlike some other plumbers (not from Armbrust) who know it's something minor but try and sell you an entire new sump pump when they know it's only a part of the sum pump that is wrong. Jeff came out for an annual furnace service. He was prompt, professional, and very informative. Didn't even seem to be bothered by my hovering or multitude of questions! Jeff also helped to quickly diagnose an issue with my humidifier and options for repair vs. replace. Being able to trust your service providers is extremely important, and I felt very comfortable with the info and service that Jeff provided. He talked about ways to help me save money (very important to me) and gave tips on how to have my furnace run better, more efficiently, and prevent malfunctions. Armburst Plumbing is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. All of the staff is extremely professional and helpful. I never feel like they are trying to take advantage of us or that they are in a hurry to leave. They always take the time to do the job right and answer any questions we have.
