Dennis has got to be the most competent oil burner technician in the country. He can spot a problem/issue as soon as he walks in the door and knows exactly how to remedy it. Had another service tech come and do a scheduled maintenance on the newly installed heat pump system.
Our house is unusual where as half was built in the late 1700's and the 2nd half of the house was built in 1991. Could not have a conventional a heat pump system with duct work installed because of the way both houses were constructed. Also having several ductless split systems installed was not cost effective. The Unique Indoor comfort system was the choice we made. We were satisfied with the Air conditioning aspect of the system throughout the past summer climate. However, we haven't experienced the heating aspect of this system as of yet. The older portion of the entire house (built in the 1700's ) has a 2 degree difference in temperature than the newer portion ( built in 1991 ) of the house. The older portion of the house has no insulation and has close to 3 foot thick stone walls. We are hopeful that during the extremely cold temperatures of the upcoming winter months, this new Bosch Heat Pump system will keep the indoor temperatures inside this dwelling at a comfortable temperature. I will put in another review when we find out how good this new system will work in the winter climate.
The entire project was a bit expensive , but since being a retired HVAC individual myself, the company worked with me and I was able to do a few things to reduce the cost of the installation. Chris, our salesman was very professional and he seemed that he enjoyed his work and he was attentive to our needs.The construction crew met us on time and was very professional. They had a few unexpected hiccups,that wasn't a major problem, we know that (things) do happen and they corrected those issues. I selected Unique to put in 3:1 Mitsubishi mini split a/c units and was installed the past two days by Alex & Juan. They were very professional & personable, cleaned everything they moved and very conscientious. Alex asked me every step of the way when there was a choice of placement for pipes, wires, units, thermostat & he came up with great ideas & solutions (I was very picky on how it looked.) I’m really happy with how Alex and Juan set everything up, how they treated my house and how they treated me as the purchaser & decision maker. They did little extras all along the way (extra shot of insulation, didn’t trample plants, rehung a shelf in better spot.) My home is 1958 and needed everything installed for central air and heat pump. The process took 7 business days to complete. The installers knew exactly what and how to do this. Very talented crew. The install went smoothly and with great care. Should be very easy to maintain. Out of all the quotes I got for this project I am truly happy I went with Unique. Very appreciative that I received Taz and Trey as the crew to do my project.

I'm entirely satisfied with our UIC experience, from the quote to the follow up to the install. Incredibly professional, prompt (if you get a few quotes you'll realize how rare that can be) and respectful of our home. We have an old Philly home that had 2 A/Cs retrofit with 1 air handler built into a wall and another hanging from the ceiling. The A/Cs were separate systems and controlled by separate thermostats. We had maybe 5 companies come through to give their perspective and a quote. Almost everyone else gave roughly the same basic quote to just drop in new base units. Mike P at UIC started by looking at our house - how much air could move through the vents, listened to what we were looking for, and presented a vision of a unified A/C system with one (I think typically used for ductless) Mitsubishi heatpump outside that would be elevated feeding into two air handlers. Tearing out the old systems and putting in the new system took 3 days. Sam and Val were incredibly prompt, knowledgeable, constantly asking if we had questions and explaining what was happening. They laid out drop cloths and dry vac'd each day to leave our house in good shape amidst the construction. They found a way to get the system into the weird nooks and cranies in our house, and about a week later everything's been great! Recently needed to upgrade the AC unit in my townhouse as the builder grade model install originally was failing. After speaking with multiple companies, a friend recommended giving Mike P a call. Mike was immediately available to come on site and review the current system. Having been a technician prior to his current sales role, Mike was able to display a level of expertise that I had not received with other companies. He quickly diagnosed an issue with the original duct work that had caused issues trying to cool the 2nd floor of the home. He also paid attention to small details that were missed initially such as running a drainage pipe away from the home, and ensuring that the electrical connections were properly insulated. After receiving a very reasonable quote, we scheduled the install. The company has a standing Covid-19 protocol which was sent to me prior to the install as well as a questionnaire to gain knowledge of the small details needed to make the install seamless. The Install team lead by Dam D was on the site earlier than expected and finished up the work by mid afternoon. They were courteous and professional. Three days after the install we discovered that the AC was not cooling the house. One phone call to Mike P at 9 am resulted in a technician dispatch and the issue was resolved by noon. Understanding that things do not always go as planned, I appreciated the speed at which Unique took care of my needs and remedied the situation. If you are looking for a service provider, have issues with cooling certain aspects of your home, or need a new unit, I would highly recommend giving MIke P and Unique Comfort a call. Alex and Juan had worked on our home to install a heat pump along with ducts and vents. There was no cooling system in place prior to their work. They worked constantly, arriving at 7:30 AM everyday. They were always ready and made sure to bring all the tools they needed for the day.
The indoor unit was installed in our attic, and I must say the space up there is very tight. We use it as a storage area as well, but Alex and Juan made sure to move things as necessary so they could do whatever they needed. One of our requests was to run the ducts along the perimeter of the attic so that we could still have space for storing our belongings, and they delivered. The ducts run around the perimeter of our attic and are neatly organized, making the attic space still usable. Both Alex and Juan had to work in tight spaces to make sure the ducts and vents went where they needed to go. One of my requests was to have the vents covered at the end of the job, since we would be doing more work on the house and we did not want dust to get inside the ducts. They made sure to cover them at the end. Alex also went through the technical details with me after the job was finished so that I knew everything I needed to about the heat pump.
At the end of each day, Alex and Juan made sure to clean up after their work. They would notify me of when they were heading out and what time they would come the next day. From the sales process to the installation... this was a 5 star experience. My house admittedly was a nightmare to install new ducts, heating and A/C but the guys at Unique did a fantastic job. When we did the walk through they came up with a through plan that minimized the damage to the house, explained every step of the process and helped visualize what they were going to do. At this point I think they realized how tough the house was going to be and assigned their "ringer" crew. I had Trong and Tan come out and from the beginning of the job I knew I was in good hands. Trong took my nightmare house (Seriously I might win an award from them on the hardest job ever) and did a phenomenal job!! It was fascinating to watch them come up with solutions for every issue that popped up and the end product is light years better than what I thought I would end up with. Trong and Tan were also very thorough about keeping the house clean. If you have the opportunity to ask for Trong when you use Unique, I would highly recommend it. Again 5 stars.. 5 stars (was not able to click on stars - was blocked by text) Quy and Patrick were phenomenal. They arrived on time every day, were courteous and checked with me every step of the way. They cleaned up every night and left the house in great shape. This was an install of a high velocity system and 2 Mitsubishi wall units for an old (1890) house that never had central air. I was especially impressed that they were so committed to the job that they asked if they could work on a Saturday.
