I recently contacted Armbrust Plumbing to handle a back up problem. Their office was thoroughly professional from the moment I called, explained the problem, set up the apptmt. and concluded the project. Regarding the apptmt., they sent email info. with a photo of the person who was assigned, they called in advance when they were coming, they were punctual, explained all the work they were going to do, explained options and concluded with no fuss, no muss. I am new to Armbrust Plumbing, but was given a quick appointment for a non-urgent service. Tom H. called before coming, appeared on time, removed the old water heater, did some new piping to bring it up to code, installed the new heater and cleaned up. He answered all questions and explained what he was doing, went over the bill with me, accepted my credit card payment. Tom is very efficient, knowledgeable, and pleasant. I recommend him highly. Had a problem with a backed up kitchen sink in Wheaton. Called in the morning and they were able to have Dave out in the afternoon. Great! Dave was on time and very friendly. He came in got right to work and fixed the problem. Sink was back in service like new!
My only gripe (and in no way related to Dave) was the overall cost of the service which was $227 for a 45 minute service call. Frankly, Armbrust, this is a bit much by any measure. About $175 I would have been okay with but the $50 charge for use of the rodding machine.... come on!
If I hire a carpenter I don't expect him to charge me for the hammer and nails. A painter does not bill for the roller and brushes. Why are you billing for the tools of your trade... Just a way to gouge people I suspect.
I'm actually quite familiar with pricing of services....labor, materials, incidentals, overhead, etc. I think you're finishing touch of adding in a final $14.00 for "fuel and consumable recovery" was rather quite inventive... taking a cue from the taxi cab companies are we?
Anyway, did you a good job and on time? yes!
Do I feel I was fairly charged? No
Would I recommend? Only if it were an emergency.

I had not dealt with Armbrust Plumbing before, but it was a very pleasant experience. Even though in my initial call to you I indicated that mine was not an urgent need, I was given a choice of quick appointments. Tom came with the water heater and proceeded to do just a bit of re-piping that brings my plumbing up to code. He removed the old, installed the new, cleaned up and finished in a very efficient manner, hauling the old water away. I liked the way he offered plenty of information and invited my questions. I am very impressed with Armbrust Plumbing. The woman who answered the phone was very friendly and listened as I explained the plumbing issues I was experiencing. She said a technician would be able to come out the next morning between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Dave W. called ahead to let me know he was on the way and did arrive by 8:45. I appreciated the fact that he came during the promised 2 hour time frame, as I had to take off from work to be home. He was friendly, took his time and explained what he thought the problems were and how he was going to fix them. My family has used the services of Armbrust through the years and have been pleased.
