I was very pleased with the service overall. They were courteous on the phone, timely and efficient during the house call, polite, neat, and knowledgeable. It was not an inexpensive visit (and the cost of the small part is high). However, unless you're prepared to do it yourself, this seems to be a trustworthy, effective business to use. I am very satisfied with the service I get from Universe Appliance repair. Their technicians are able to quickly identify the problem and honest about the options that might exist to fix it (including suggesting when it is time to replace the appliance). the technician (Jason) who came on Saturday is basically the “messenger”; he provided information about the “options” to fix the ductless unit and did what we agreed to do. He said refrigerant costs about $70 per pound and we had 1.8lbs put in, but the service he provided Saturday cost $443 total. I agreed to go that route bc $600 to “check for a leak” and then another $1500 to repair it, is totally unaffordable for me. Jason was just doing his job. But the company charges me over $300 per year for “maintenance” and that is just for the heating system! It was explained that a “combo” to include ductless maintenance would be over $450, but that would not include any ductless repairs, just “maintenance”. Universe’s maintenance, which apparently doesn’t cover much, is very expensive in my opinion Jason L. 07/01/18 |

Called Universe 1:00AM Friday morning coming home to a warm house. AC unit outside not working. Drain pan full of water in attic and shut unit down as it should. Received a call this morning 8:30 am and nice lady said a service man would come between 8-12. Showed up as promised with no service charge. Cleared drain line. Woke up to a plumbing issue, called Universe that morning and they were able to send a technician over that afternoon. I was told someone would arrive between 1-5 pm (which is a large time span) but Joe H. arrived before 2pm so that was appreciated. Joe was very polite and attentive and fixed the problem promptly. He also took time to clean up any resulting mess. Also, the price seemed fairly reasonable considering the cost of repairs in this area. I had a ductless air conditioner installed which did not work properly because the freon valve was not opened. When I stopped at the office to complain I was told a manager would call me but no one did. The service call to fix the improper installation was done timely.
