Shane B***** of Allens Plumbing did a great job of installing a hybrid electric water heater for us. He took his time and did the job right, even skipping lunch to keep working on the installation. The hybrid water heater has an input port near the bottom (unlike the old conventional water heater) so Shane had to run new (rigid) copper pipes to the input port, wrap them in insulating material, and secure them to the new tank. The new water heater also required a condensation drain line so Shane had to drill a hole in the garage wall and run a new PVC condensation drain line outside. His work was neat and precise. Randy was very professional and friendly.. He explained what he needed to do job wise, showed us the problem with his camera, and cleaned out the pipes. Then showed us again that it was cleaned out.. Both the representative who took my call and dispatched the plumber and the "female" plumber were excellent. The plumber was very good at explaining what the problem was and how it was resolved. I felt the prices were fair and reasonable. This was an emergency call on a Sat evening after 7pm. The plumber was able to arrive within an hour or less time after being contacted for service. Preston Gannon was the tech that came to remove an outdated drain from our shower. He explained what they were going to do, including making a lot of noise with the jack hammer. They got the work done in less time than expected, cleaned up well and explained to me and showed me what they had done. Second time in 10 days I called Allen’s Plumbing and their service and professionalism was consistently awesome. Both situations were sort of an emergency and last minute calls. The first call was to cover for an incompetent plumber who never had the decency to contact us to inform us he was unable to make the appointment that was scheduled a week prior. Our technician was Randy, and he did an unbelievable job. Unknowingly, the main shutoff valve to our townhouse controlled 2 buildings with a total of 8 units. Besides the plumbing work, he also had upset residents who were quite vocal.
Our second call to Allen’s was a Sunday evening with a backed up drain, hoping they provided emergency 7/24 service. Unfortunately they don’t, but their answering service immediately notified Allen’s dispatcher, Ne’aulani, who scheduled a service call first thing Monday morning. JP was our technician and had the drainage problem fixed in minutes. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the proper size rubber expansion plug to cap off an old and unused drain and had to battle traffic and 3 stops to find what he was looking for. When he returned he had the plug in place in less than 2 minutes.
I can’t say enough about the professionalism of Allen’s team, from dispatchers to technicians, and I have full confidence in their work. They go to the top of our phone contact list for home repair.

All of my interactions with Allens front office staff were friendly and productive. Cheryl, Dickie, and Kane made sure our project was done within our time frame and budget. Shane, without assistance, replaced two toilets, two shutoffs, and two sink pop-up assemblies, in addition to a toilet flange replacement that had to be done from the crawl space. He remained well into dinnertime so as to complete the project in one visit, which we greatly appreciated. As the owner of a plumbing service company on the mainland, this was a wonderful opportunity to assess great service from a new perspective, as a client. I will continue to use Allens Plumbing for all of our Maui home's needs, and extend my thanks once again to Shane, Cheryl, Dickie, and Kane, for making this such a pleasant experience. Hard to rate with stars. Work performed was excellent- remounting loose toilet. 5 stars. However, this work took less than 15 minutes for 2 plumbers. However, I was charged $271! The only supplies were a wax ring and some calk. Most of that charge was labor, at a professor's salary rate. No stars.
Your site insists on a star rating, so no stars for your site. I'll put one star on it to make your restrictive site happy.

Technician and CS are great but they should show up on time. Scheduled first appt. in the morning. They called an hour earlier to confirm. They didn't show up until 1.5 hrs after the scheduled time. After the work was done notice they poured the crud from the pipe in my front yard. I would post a pic if I could. They should have asked where to dump it or pour it next to the wall. Original repair by Nate was professional, but incomplete. He left dripping PVC pipe that should have been fixed. I called the office and Spencer came out to fix it but charged me an additional $232.00. There should have been no additional charge for an incomplete job done the first time around. I was assured that Kane, supervisor, would look into it. I had to call 3 times before I reached him and he was going to check with the field guys. Still no answer after 2 weeks. I left another voice mail (3 of them now) and he still has not replied. I am convinced Kane has no intention of talking to me or discussing the issue.
