We were having some air conditioning problems and thought we might need service on our air conditioner. We'd heard great things about Sunshine so called them. The first thing that impressed me was that they scheduled an actual TIME that they would come out, rather than a RANGE...so I didn't have to stay home waiting from 2-5pm...rather, they showed up at our scheduled time of 3pm. That was fabulous! William, the owner, came and not only fixed our issues, but did a thorough inspection on the plumbing, heating, and cooling in our entire house. He made recommendations, but didn't make us feel pressured to do them right away. He prioritized the recommendations and gave us exact prices for each item. His work was excellent, prices were fair, and the experience was great. They even sent us a thank you card and brownies about 2 weeks after they were here. My kids are anxiously awaiting a toilet to break...they now associate the plumber with treats!:) This was the best customer service experience I've had in SUCH a long time! I found water in my basement and could not tell where it was coming from. Sunshine Plumbing came and verified that it was not a leak from my washer. They then proceeded to open my wall and identified that the problem was with the new pipes that I had installed, with a different plumber, approximately one year prior. My wife had noticed that the base of the toilet had been getting damp and with my back problems we decided to just call a plumber and get it fixed once and be done with it. The plumber arrived on time and promptly noted that the wax ring under the toilet had disintegrated thereby preventing a proper seal. The technician that was sent (Giber S. Sais) was very professional and personable. He assessed our needs and determined that we did not need to replace our faucet and tear up drywall if he was to just replace some faulty interior parts in the faucet assemble. At first that was going to require a second trip, then he determined that he could take parts from a new faucet and install them in our faucet and voila! a working faucet that does not drip. We used a Big Deal and had Cool Sunshine come out to inspect and clean our furnace and check our plumbing. William spent 2 hours cleaning the furnace and then testing it to see if it was running efficiently. He had no problem having me watch and I learned a lot while he worked. William discovered that our furnace was not sized correctly and when the A/C was added, it caused further issues with efficiency. He asked what we pay each month for gas and electric and our bill is about $100/ mo higher than it should be. Sadly, we really need a new furnace, but he said we would be wise to consult a home energy audit specialist to make sure there aren't other things we can do to save money too and to help us determine the best furnace for our needs. It went well, aside from the fact that we need to get a new furnace. William came about 40 minutes before his designated time, but he called first. He was very thorough and he cleaned the whole furnace, inside and out. He asked a lot of questions to help us figure out why we spend so much on heating and cooling each year. After he was done with the furnace, he checked each bathroom sink and toilet for any leaks or problems. He also checked the kitchen sink and made a couple of quick repairs without charge. Provided quote to come out and install solar system(s) on our place. Very pleased w/ the level of professionalism and honesty. Basically, the gentleman told us our house, as it was currently built, was NOT well suited to thermal solar hot water heat, and did NOT try to sell us something that wouldn't work in our home. He gave us his honest opinion on what our best course of action would be in trying to set-up some solar energy units on our property. I had a frost-free faucet burst during a cold spell... did someone leave the hose on? ( I did not, but I have 3 kids and several contractors working on a deck and bathroom remodel.) The faucet was located behind a finished bathroom wall and difficult to get to, but fortunately we were in the middle of a remodel and so for a couple days the faucet was easy to get to. I called several plumbers and none were both available and willing to give me a quote, but when I called Sunshine they told me up front the cost (with the disclaimer any extra work would cost extra, but the wall was open so I was reasonably sure there would be none). They were able to schedule coming out during the period my remodeller was going to have the old tile down before it was replaced. They had some kind of emergency come up and had to reschedule, but when I explained the situation William came out earlier in the day instead of later. He arrived later than the arrival time given, but called to let me know he was running a bit late 30 minutes before the appointment, and he still finished the work before the end of the time window they had given. The cost was exactly what I was quoted over the phone. (And $75 lower than the lowest estimate anyone else was willing to give me.) William showed me how the old faucet was not quite installed correctly so that could have led to the break, but he still thought someone must have left a hose attached. Overall I was satisfied with the job. He called ahead and got to the house early. He made sure to put covers on his shoes and was quick and efficient with setting up the area to work. He had to poke a hole in the closet ceiling to get to the connecting pipe for the faucet. He explained to me what he was doing step by step. It was probably about a hour total time. He cleaned up all debris thoroughly, and after turning the water back on, noticed that the bathroom sink faucet handle was loose and volunteered to fix that. I purchased a deal for replacement of an outside faucet for $79. The person who was to perform the service called about an hour before the service was scheduled and asked if he could come then. That was no problem so I said yes. Since the outside faucet to be replaced was soldered to the inside pipe, it was necessary to cut a panel into the wall of a room opposite the faucet. I was told the cost for installing the panel would be $99. It took about two hours to perform the replacement including putting in the panel. The area where the panel was cut was cleaned up nicely. They called me back the next day after I purchased the coupon to arrange an appointment. The morning of the appointment William called ahead of time to let me know he would be a little late; he showed up right when he said he would. He took a look at the job to be done, explained my options and the cost of each. When I told him what I wanted to do he got right to work and finished up really quickly, then showed me exactly what he'd done. He cleaned up well in the work area before he left. I purchased a $105 coupon for $200 service. I wanted to maximize the coupon, and try to get all the work done in one visit (which would only incur one service charge of $30). The plumber called me stating that he finished his previous job early and asked permission if he could come sooner - I appreciate that. When he came he assessed all three projects and showed me the pricing. I had asked via e-mail what the hourly cost was (thinking that my $200 service would be billed by the hour). I was told the hourly rate, but I learned when the plumber arrived that the do the job "by the book". You look up the type of service in the book, and the cost is fixed. So, whether the job can take a short or long time, you know the price up-front. We decided to do all three projects. The three projects exceeded by $200 coupon. The leaky toilet turned out be be a cracked tank. He showed me the wear and tear signs, and evidence that the previous home owner had diagnosed it with dye, but they did a quickie and just tightened the existing hardware, leaving it to me to really fix the problem. The plumber explained the pricing and breakdown if he bought it versus me buying it. I decided the extra cost was worth it for him to get the toilet (in the snow storm) and complete the job in one day. He picked out nice model (an upgrade) and installed it. All the work was completed satisfactorily in one visit! He worked with me to get me the best rates for my money. I would use them again and request Giber to do the work. I contacted Sunshine about two weeks before the Big Deal coupon was about to expire, but they were able to schedule the work before the expiration date. At first, there was a bit of confusion because the deal was old (purchased in Aug 2012) for two toilets, and their newest deal allowed only one toilet. But that confusion was quickly straightened out, with apologies from Sunshine. When William removed the upstairs toilet, he found black mold (ugh!), so he assembled that toilet but did not install it. The downstairs bathroom also had black mold, even under the carpet (double ugh!!), but William went ahead and installed that toilet, so that I would have at least one working toilet in the house. He also referred me to All Dry for the mold mitigation. Several days later, once the mold was taken care of, William returned to install the upstairs toilet. William was absolutely professional, very friendly, punctual, performed the work very quickly, and very well. When he found the mold, he showed it to me and we discussed how to proceed. I'm very glad he was able to refer me to All Dry (another Angie's List provider) because I would have been at a total loss as to whom to contact for the mold mitigation. I had a bathtub faucet that was leaking badly, and a boiler that was working, but not the way it was supposed to. I called Sunshine and was told that the earliest they could schedule me was in early March. When I said I could not wait that long, William reorganized his schedule and agreed to see me on the same day. This was on a Friday. William spent a couple of hors at my home that day. At first he fixed my plumbing problem. Back near the boiler area, William noticed that a water heater vent was not installed properly. He fixed that as well. In my experience, there are few plumbers that have expertise with boiler systems. William is one who does. My boiler had not been serviced in some time and was in need of cleaning and updating. Four out of 5 zone controls were not operating and basically the boiler just ran all the time. I also had several other parts that were obviously in need of replacement. William explained the function of the boiler and its parts, and offered several options. I decided to have the repairs made. William arrived on Saturday morning and worked into the evening in order to complete the job. He explained that there might be an issue with air locks because the system had been flushed. I was out of the house over night and when I returned there was a minor issue. I called Sunshine on Monday and William returned within a short time and addressed the problem. My heating system is now working as it was supposed to. William also flushed my water heater and removed an old one at no charge. William was very attentive while cleaning the workspace. I have rarely had such a good experience with any tradesman in any capacity. I highly recommend this company, and will use them for all my plumbing and heating needs in the future. Overall I simply cannot say enough about William Frew and sunshine plumbing, heating and solar. William was either right on time or if he was running late would always call ahead. His work is very meticulous and perfect, you can tell he takes a great deal of pride in his work. His use of technology is impressive, he sends electronic reminders and receipts and has a credit card scanner that he can hook to his I-phone. We recently had a leak and William fixed this easily. We have a 15 year old in floor heating system with a Viessmann boiler that is not common and no longer sold. William took the time to learn about our system, talked with tech support and service reps, and serviced the boiler and all the components of our system (pressure tanks, valves, gauges) so that things are basically as good as new. It is clear that William has a lot of plumbing experience but what impressed me more was his attention to detail. Every fitting, every label, every pipe looks perfect. I have worked with many different contractors and I can say without a doubt that sunshine is the best experience I have ever had. The work was perfect, the attention to detail was flawless, and William always went the extra mile to be sure the job was done right. Previously to this appointment I had called Sunshine about my leaky faucet. Mr. Frey told me that I would need a new faucet, but he temporarily fixed the problem. He did not charge me for this visit. My faucet resumed leaking after about a week, and that continued to leak even after I had turned the water off. I called Sunshine to schedule an appointment, but they were booked solid for two weeks out. I told them I was concerned about losing so much water, and a representative got back to me promptly, and they managed to fit me in. The only disappointment was the $55.00 extra for "an upgrade" on the replacement of the hose bib to a "frost-free" (which is code).The one replaced was already a frost free, but defective. The $69 coupon only covers a non-frost free bib, which would be crazy to install in a winter climate. So, no big deal, but unexpected. Maybe there was fine print somewhere covering this "upgrade".
