We thought we had a small leak out of our bathtub drain pipe, but David made sure before he opened the ceiling in the floor below the tub to check that it wasn't the overflow pipe. Once he determined that he really did need to cut a hole in our ceiling, he found a 50 year old nightmare of pipes. He realized he did not have enough room to work in that space, but was very helpful problem solving and realized he could go down from above if we opened the bathroom floor. The space was super tight, but he persevered and did a great job fixing our pipe. He was calm, helpful, and solved a really difficult situation. We are very grateful for his hard work! We have had problems with out bathroom stool allowing water to pass through it, which meant we were constantly hearing sounds as the tank refilled. We hired another plumber to fix the problem, but they were unsuccessful, saying the only solution was an entirely new stool. We contacted Standard, who put in a kit to replace the parts installed by the previous plumber. That fix was temporarily successful, but after a few days the problem surfaced again. Standard returned and put in a different flushing mechanism at no additional charge and solved our problem. David W. 08/12/21 |

We have two properties in Manhattan. We hired John and the Standard crew in one of them to make sure a bathroom was handicap accessible and they did such a wonderful, conscientious job that John just drew up the plans for a bath mod in our own home. I loved talking to the office manager, she was so friendly, efficient and worked to find an appointment time that fit our schedule. She gave me a courtesy call the day before, which I appreciate.
David was right on time, he didn't have any misgivings about being greeted by three big dogs and did his service having to navigate through and around them. Our 26 year old furnace and AC were still working fine, however we decided it was time for new HVAC system before an untimely comfort crisis occurred. Lots of choices in Manhattan, but we choose Standard Plumbing and an Amana system.
Obviously the Standard Plumbing team, Jeff and Jerod, had done this demo / installation many times before. In a very workman like manner, they removed all the old stuff replacing it with new. The end result was a very professional looking job in the basement and outside. The completion took less than a day, with no real inconvenience to us, and with no mess !
We are very pleased with the product, the instillation, and the 10 year Amana parts and labor warrantee. However the best part is the “new” system works just like the “old” system … only quieter and much more energy efficient!

Replacing a home furnace and air conditioner are expensive home investments and an important long term decision.
Clark was the estimator. He was on time, very professional, well focused, and wore a masked. Clark examined our old units, asked some key questions and most important listened to my wants and expectations. He sent the essential estimate info to my email address in less than an hour and did not try to contact me while we decided.
The decision to choose Standard Plumbing Company was easy; Standard Plumbing has been in Manhattan for a very long time; Amana is been in business for a very long time with a great reputation; and a 10 year factory Parts and Labor warranty helped seal the deal. In addition there was NO Up-selling a New thermostat or a “Super-duper” furnace filter package or Annual maintenance agreements ! David was at our home to install a Delta facet that we had purchased from Delta. The facet was assembled incorrectly at the factory and he had to take the time to figure out how to make it work in our sink.

David is nothing if not persistent. Quick identification of the problem, quick fix, but it didn't work. Consultation with the equipment manufacturer revealed they couldn't figure it out, either. I would have appreciated more if the technician would have explained what he did once it was done. He installed new valve and explained that well. In seeing the unit after; he moved pipe to more of the front of water heater. Assume that he felt this more practical but would have liked him to point that out and tell me his thoughts.
