Nothing says welcome to your new home like the AC breaking down after a month. Being that it was the middle of summer we were worried that we would be waiting a while before someone could come fix it. Luckily, Rhymes came within a few hours and had it back up and running in no time without it costing an arm and a leg. The tech who came out, Mike, was super friendly and professional. Rhymes Heating & Cooling sent Mike V. to work on my ac, and he was awesome! After replacing the fan blade and motor, he discovered the compressor wire had burned off and thought we might have to do a new unit. Nope, not with Mike V., he totally went into MacGuyver-mode and fixed it. That's a big difference between $700 repair and $3,000 replacement. It was hot as hell outside and he could've just told me it wasn't fixable, and I'd have been none the wiser. Thankfully, that didn't happen. If you need heating or cooling service, I recommend Rhymes Heating and Cooling. Being new to the STL area, I didn't have a clue who to call when my old systems needed service. I never felt pressured or taken advantage of. From a friendly voice answering the phone (Jen), to scheduling (Darrin) to the service call (Frank) I was treated respectfully, professionally and honestly. My wife Rhonda set up the appointment and said Darren was great. However, when Mike V. arrived he was condescending and belligerent to her. First thing out of his mouth was it's running, not hello or I'd like to check out your A/C unit or just a polite greeting. She tried to explain what was happening and he kept interrupting her. I took some time from work to come home and help out. Mike V. also was interruptive and condescending to me which I didn't appreciate considering I'm paying for this service. For the first 15 minutes I couldn't get a word in. After we finally spoke he mentioned there may be an issue with the control panel and I agreed with him so we will follow up with that. I'm not sure if Mike V. was having a bad day but I'm not the enemy, just a customer. I don't want him to lose his position but he definitely needs an attitude check. Mike V. the HVAC technician performing my service was outstanding. Polite, knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. However, the bill he gave me was outrageous considering the minimal time required to diagnose and repair the system. I have used Rhymes previously for maintenance & repairs. I have been with Rhymes for over 17 years and they have always been very reliable and friendly. Darren was great in scheduling our service call when our AC unit was not working and his follow up in getting the part to our house so Adam could install it was above and beyond! Adam was very professional, friendly and courteous when he was out to repair our AC unit.
