Short story: company completely misdiagnosed the problem, tried to charge me for $4500 for work I didn't immediately need done, and left me with the same problem I called them for. The longer story is that my sump pump was churning water in the basin. After I replaced the check valve myself, the problem persisted and I called Mr. Rooter. They arrived and immediately suggested that the pipes from my house to the street were clogged, which would lead to the churning. However, the technician didn't have a battery for his camera, so he waited for ~45 minutes for his partner to arrive with one. They then both used the camera to show me the path of water from my house to the street. While filled with some rocks, etc., I was still uncertain how that was preventing water from getting out of my basement. They said it should be fixed immediately and they could be out early the next week and could do it for $4500. In the mean time, since it was supposed to rain the next day, they disconnected my piping from my sump pump to the downspout and routed some PVC to the backyard, so I could drain my basement that way. This was over $300 of "work". However, after they left, I saw that the sump was unplugged in the basement. I plugged it back in...and the water was still churning in the basis. So with the sump pump being disconnected from my "bad" drain pipes, I still had the same problem as before. It took about 2 seconds to realize that the problem was not with the outlet piping but with the pump itself. I then went to Lowe's, spent $150 on a new sump pump, installed it myself, and reconnected my sump pump discharge pipe. Everything worked fine, even through a rainstorm the next day. I am still amazed at how they couldn't diagnose the problem even when the piping was disconnected. But, given how they suspected the problem was with the piping (and a $4500 fix) even before going into my basement to see the sump pump, perhaps it is not so amazing after all.

Way over priced ! Wasted a day and half waiting for service to show up.Had to make several phone calls to keep rescheduling. The estimate of $1000 dollars was a total rip off.I had already done almost half the work. I will never use your company for any kind of work and I will tell everybody I know to do the same.

My initial appointment was delayed a day due to an unavoidable field emergency. You have to expect these types of delays. If your appointment is a "need" or an "inconvenience," and not an end-of-the-world critical emergency like an active leak or flood, being bumped a day is not unheard of. So relax, people. I was rescheduled for the next evening, and I received a priority time slot. Tim S. was my Technician, and I would hope to have him do any future service calls. My basement drain was clogged. Old 1920 Clintonville home. Tim took pictures, explained everything that could possibly be the issue. Tim described the differences between old-school plumbing and new-build plumbing. The hazards, the benefits, and the different approaches for servicing both. Mostly because I was genuinely interested and asked many pointed questions. Tim diagnosed the problem as being intrusive tree roots penetrating the main-sewer line. I was offered 2 Service Options: 2 different approaches and 2 different prices. I really wanted the more comprehensive high-tech full-clearing hydro cleaning of the line, but my current budget only allowed me to do the traditional snaking. Tim understood, and told me all the pros and cons of both. I will schedule the high-pressure hydro clearing next year when I'm more flush with cash - but for now, the snaking got me back in business. No sales pressure, no judgement, no upselling - just solid service and understanding. Tim worked like ten men, and was strong like a bull. He had to heft a 300-lb snake machine down 2 flights of narrow old-home basement stairs. I have NO IDEA how he managed. The thing was a beast. Tim worked for over an hour, cleared the line, then cleaned the entire area with disinfecting spray, hauled away the bag full of roots, and then let me listen to the clear-flush of the sewer line just to satisfy my own curiosity. He's a great guy, very smart about all plumbing issues, very personable, and not abrasive like some other companies have on Staff. Hope to see him again! This was my second call to Mr. Rooter in the last couple of years (last call was to repair the upstairs bathtub), and I will call on them again next year when I can afford the Hydro-snaking of my sewer lines. Solid work, expected price, no pressure, full detail explanations of potential causes, diagnosis, and price estimate(s). Very satisfied with my experience.
Tim S.

Mr Rooter sent out a very nice and professional man named James B. He was very thorough with his explanation of what my problem was and gave me two ways of fixing my slow draining kitchen sink! I chose the cheaper of the two methods to fix it and he did a great job! I’ve got my sink back now! Very happy with Mr Rooter!

I was very pleased by the plumber who replaced my garbage disposal, replaced my toilet and fixed my sink. However someone was supposed to come on Thur between 11-1, then changed to between 4:30 to 6:30, then Sat between 9-11. No one ever showed, I had to call and plumber finally came about 4:30.

Mark Adam and Martin we're all extremely polite and nice. However, Martin was the only one that actually came and stayed until the job was completed. Starting from the top...a couple of months ago I reached out to solve a major water and septic issue. First Frank came out and did the items required for a final plumbing inspection because another company didn't go all the way through. He was awesome!! Came in explained everything that he had to do and walked me through the whole process. It ended up taking a couple extra days because the city kept messing up the inspection timeline and he had to fix an issue found with the HVAC companies work. About $4,000 and 2 weeks later it was done (fuzzy on time line and total cost). Thanks Frank, I finally have water!!!. After that I had him get ahold of a manager for the next project since he did so well. I needed French drains all around the house, a septic line repaired, a sump pump and the gutters tied into the pond. My yard and house was flooding. Out of about 10 companies, no exaggeration, 5 showed up for a quote and Mr. Rooter (mark) was the one of two to give me one in a timely manner. He was much higher than one quote so he dropped the price to be somewhere in the ballpark. Although he was higher I still chose him because Frank did an awesome job in the first job. This is where it went downhill. After about two weeks it was determined that they couldn't fix the septic line because they couldn't complete the septic test in time to get the required license. They finally start work on the rest (10,600). I think it took 2 or 3 days but they couldn't finish the back yard drain because they hit a hidden septic. After about another week i got a call from Mark requesting payment and I said the backyard drain isn't dug and the channel drain in front of the garage is incomplete. I had to have the septic company come and do some repairs to the bad septic. Once that was complete Mark met me to discuss the remaining items. We came to a new price for the back yard drain since it want complete and discussed the channel drain. They tried to say the drain was complete but there was no gravel or cement around the drain. Eventually they finished the drain after missing a few appointments saying it would be done. I paid and that project was finally complete. This is where it gets even worse... During the outside project I requested a quote to install my new water system. Mark set a date and gave me a quote. Missed some parts so updated the quote on the second one. Had a technician , Adam (very nice), come out to install. They couldn't figure it out. They went home did some research and said they would be back out. After finally coming back out they said they still didn't know how and felt uncomfortable...they were out 4 or 5 times. Around the third time I had a baby and we moved into the house thinking the water would be complete. It too almost a month to install and I have had to drive my girlfriend and son to my rental property to shower every day and provide bottled water for baby baths and drinking since the 12 since the baby was born. Mark and I spoke and he said he didn't feel comfortable adding the media to the tanks (after 2 weeks). I said if I added the media would he still install the system that I already paid him to do. He said yes. That night, I go home check the instructions and checked where the media should go. I found out Adam already installed the media. He put it in the wrong tank and put it in incorrectly. I had to call the company and pay 160 for new media because it couldn't be separated.after another week of waiting the new Media came and Martin came to install the system. Around 10ish yesterday I get a call from him. He was asking questions that Mark and Adam new the answer too. They sent him to the house with no prior knowledge of what they figured out. I sent him the technical support number and website with installation instructions. Unlike the other two, he stayed there 13 hours figured it out and finally left around 10 lat night. He wasted about 5 hours figuring out what Mark and Adam already new. This is a text I sent mark after the media issue with Adam..... "Sorry for the late text. Cancel the appt tomorrow. After doing research on the website. You put the media in the tank for the 7x44 terminox in the 10x54 water softner. The two bags left are the resin for the softner (big tank). I'm assuming you put in three bags into the big tank...I can only see two different materials but the third is on the bottom I'm assuming (which is also wrong). The small tank should have taken the black gravel on the bottom. The small two lb bag of white next and the 3rd bag on top (I could be fuzzy on details). The media on the terminox has to go in the order of what is stated on the website and there is no way to separate it now. I am going to have to order new media for the terminox. Today when I spoke to Mark we agreed I would knock out the media so you could do the system for me. This obviously wasnt going to work because the Media was already in. I know you guys didn't intend to mess this up but this is extremely frustrating. It's clear that you guys aren't talking to each other. Please communicate with each other before calling me tomorrow morning so you both are on the same page. " They don't communicate with the technicians and this was the second time. I'm not quite done. Also during this process I set appointments up with the office to do work on both of my rental properties. Adam did Victoria Street and that's where I first met him...he did an awesome job. No one ever went out to marathon Court even though I called a followed up. Even after all of that I am thankful for Mr. Rooter doing all of this work because I was finally able to move in. However, it is very clear that big jobs that require more than a technician is out of their league. I spent over 15000 dollars and would have some expectation that I shouldn't have to wait months for projects to be complete, half complete or unable to be completed. Even now, after the work is "complete" . The RO system wasn't getting water through so I have to call another company just to fix what was installed. I will use Mr. Rooter in the future for very small fixes because Frank is awesome and their office staff is very nice but I will never use them or recommend them for more than one task at a time or on anything that requires management involvement. Prompt, professional service. The service reps kept working until the lateral line from the building to the city sewer was clear. Their proposal to install the Cleanout and check valve was well written and included the guarantees which were extremely important to our membership, and could not be matched by any competitor. Thanks for a great job

James B********** did an excellent job with our water tank. Our tank is now sitting straight on a sturdy box, the vent is safe, the corroded pipes are gone, the proper size pan was installed and the work is neatly done.

The Mr. Rooter plumbing service was a very positive experience. The plumbers, Adam and James, explained the nature of the problems was the gas line very thoroughly and addressed my concerns about the danger of the gas line running under the family room to the fire place. They made adjustments to the line; of course sealed the leaks. They worked efficiently and quietly and did a very nice job. All the while being polite and professional. I am very happy with the work.

I should have received my estimate on 10/16. I still have not received it. I was surprised how quickly the request for a quote was scheduled however the team did not show up on the first day and were late arriving on the second day. No one called to advise that they were going to be late and as I mentioned I am still waiting on the quote.

Aaron was very nice but we spent 2 whole evenings waiting on arrival. The first night, we were given a 2 hour window, 3-5pm. After 6 we were told it would be very late. We were given the option of rescheduling which we did for a subsequent evening. We were rescheduled for 3 pm and given "priority" status. Again, at 4:45pm, we were called and told "you are up next", we will call you when the tech is on the way. At 7:15pm, no one had called. I called and was told he was in a traffic problem and would be there in 45 minutes. At 8:20 pm, no one arrived or called. We were told he was 5 minutes away. About 8:30 pm he arrived. While he was very helpful and courteous, this waiting situation was very frustrating especially since our leak was an indirect result of previous work on the pipes already done by another tech where we paid $200 for one hour of work.

I believe the work was properly done and the technician was friendly and knowledgeable. I was not terribly pleased with the response time though. Although I was promised that the tech would be there between 2 and 4 and that was close, there was some problem. Before 3 PM, we received a call that the tech would be here within half an hour. At 4 PM, we got another call that the tech was on his way and at 4:30 he finally arrived. There was no explanation. Since I had another appointment at a specific time, this was less than desirable.

Chad from Mr. Rooter was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He diagnosed my issue promptly; quickly confirmed his diagnosis and recommended a solution that could be completed that same day. He invited us to watch over his shoulder so he could explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. I would recommend Chad for your residential plumbing work anytime!

Aaron completely misdiagnosed the problem. A professional came in today and within minutes found the problem around the tub upstairs. He said the first step Aaron should have taken was to take a closer look at the upstairs bath before tearing apart my mother's ceiling in her bedroom. This is costing her $400 to repair. Aaron said the cause was the sink upstairs, and yes, it is leaking but it is slight (no damage in sink cabinet) and it's obvious this isn't the cause of the leak. I want at a minimum for you to return the $258 my mother was charged, but in addition you are also responsible for the ceiling repair of $400. Please contact me with a response at 513-607-8656.

I had an appointment time set and was updated on when the technician would arrive, but after the second delay and the tech running hours behind schedule I had to cancel the existing appt and move to another time.

I had a line back up with basement flooding on a Sunday afternoon. I was afraid that late on a weekend I would never get anybody, and would have to wait until Monday and face thousands of dollars of water damage. To my relief, the Mr. Rooter team came promptly, fixed the problem, gave me a clear explanation of what happened (with pictures) and my house was back to normal operations by that evening. I am totally satisfied with their service. Thanks Mr. Rooter!

They showed up on time. They completed the job in a timely fashion. They cleaned up as much as possible. Troy suggested I wait until the soil had settled to have the area top soiled, seeded, and straw put down. He assured me, since I have already paid for it in advance, that there would be no additional charges when I called Mr. Rooter to have someone come and finish the landscape part of the job., and that it would be done in a timely fashion. If that happens in a timely fashion I will give your team 5. stars. Troy says he wrote this on his job report. I paid him in full per the contract.

I wanted a faucet for my kitchen sink installed that I had purchased at lowes. Lowes quoted $99.00. I then called Mr. Rooter, who I've used before, and was satisfied and happy to use again, even referred to other people. He arrived on time, but quoted an astronomical amount of money for the work AND additional up sell work I did not ask for or want or even was concerned about. I ONLY wanted by faucet installed. He stated he could not compete so we will seek a different plumber from lowes. I will not waste my time with Mr. Rooter again. I even asked for a quote when scheduling and no one would give me a ball park idea. you wasted my time.

Chad R. came out to fix our toilet. He was very courteous, professional, and thorough. Our toilet works great! It was a pleasure for him to be here. Our only problem was that we were told, our Wells Fargo card we opened with your company, can not be used any more. When I called, I mentioned, That I would be using it, and was told that was fine. THEN, after Chad was dispatched to us, I was called and told it was no longer viable. I was really upset, since we are senior citizens. However, after meeting Chad R., we will be calling your company again for our plumbing problems.

We had a back up in our basement and called Mr. Rooter that morning. They said they would be out between 2-4, but actually got there early(after Notifying us they would be there sooner), and within a short amount of time determined it was our sewer line. We were two options to fix the issue, and the prices were given up front so we could make an informed decision, and there was no pressure either way. James worked quickly and did a great job. We also had a sump pump downspout issue that he gave us an estimate on, and we got that done also. James made sure we were able to use a coupon, so that was an additional savings. He worked efficiently, explained everything, and was super polite!

You actually have the nerve to send this to me. Im still waiting on the promised email with a picture of the tech that would (NOT) show up for as well as waiting for service. I could call any company and I chose yours. Set appt for 5-7 and at 720 received call that they were running behind. NO problem. by 9:00 i was over it. Someone called at 9:02pm UNACCEPTABLE. Is this how you always treat a first time (last time) customer. REALLY !!!!! It isn't about the money its about customer service. and well your offer to give me $100.00 off ...do you also want to reimburse me for my wages lost waiting several hours for a NO SHOW ! Please please do use my comments on your promotional material. I will make sure to let everyone and anyone know not to use your company if this is the type of service and treatment one receives. Shame on you .

We had Mr Rooter in our for 3 weeks taking care of a large(300 feet) sewage break in our house. Josh, Chad, Adam, Martin and Martin were the main technicians but there were others. The team was incredible--way above my expectation. They were very professional, courteous and very good at what they do. I highly recommend Mr Rooter for any plumbing needs. An extra applause for Chad and Martin since they spent most of the time here. A pleasure to have in our home and very good at what they do. Very pleases with the work and the people at Mr Rooter. I highly recommend!
