This was my second visit from Dean. This time I needed to move a gas line in the wall to accommodate a new gas range that is being installed later this same week. Dean gave me a call to let me know he was on his way. When he arrived, we discussed what I needed and the options available. He managed to disassemble the existing pipes and re-route it through a stud. The final result was excellent. He noted that there was a water line near the galvanized gas line and put a cushion in to ensure that the two did not come in contact with each other. He also relighted the pilot on my gas hot water heater since he had to shut off the gas to the house. I highly recommend Dean and Gene Burch Plumbing. Dean G. 06/20/16 |

After living in our house for only 5 months, we realized we had a leak under the slab in our kitchen. The first call was to our home warranty insurance company. They sent their plumber out and he pointed to a spot on the floor and said your leak is under there. He recommended replacing all the hot water pipes in the house - a $7000 project that would "only" involve ripping up walls and plumbing. The second plumber who came to our house couldn't even clearly explain what needed to be done. Thankfully, my new hairdresser recommended Gene Burch Plumbing. From my first call with Maria, I knew this was the company I would use. Gary, the service technician, came to the house and clearly explained the process. We scheduled an appointment with Mark, of Leak Detection Pros, who came to the house and located exactly where the leak was - it was only 4 feet away from where the first plumber said it was. I then scheduled an appointment with Eric from Gene Burch to repair the leak. He came on time, was as neat as he could be - considering he had to jackhammer the floor - repaired the leak and patched the floor. These guys showed up on time, are professional and competent. There were several things going on with my A/C...they not only got it working-they took care of the peripheral issues. They also noticed a problem with where the condensation is draining which was bound to be a problem later...crisis averted. Dean came to install a water filter system under our kitchen sink. He called about 40 minutes before the appointment to let me know he would be on time (and gave me time to get stuff out from under the sink!) He arrived on time, had all the parts, showed me the filter system and how to replace the cartridge before he installed it. He completed the project in about 30 minutes and did a thorough clean up. Fantastically attentive and thorough for an emergency job. I highly recommend this company! I have a terminally ill loved one at home, and spent nearly a whole afternoon trying to find someone who could fix his old floor furnace. Unfortunately, many Marin companies won't touch these. Even worse, everyone is booked out a week or two ahead. I contacted GB, explained our situation, and they squeezed us in for the very next day. When the guy arrived, he took his time cleaning the furnace and assessing the potential issues causing the outage. When the pilot light went back out, he rushed back and ruled out the remaining issue. The heater now works better than it has in years -- very happy customers! Will use again in the future. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY & ERIC ESPECIALLY! Eric fixed a tough job on my bathtub...no access (to speak of) the sprayer line had fallen under the house...another plumber told me the entire bathtub had to be taken out and SO many other things. they bid the job at $2,160.00 and Eric fixed all of that and more for $314.00. he is fabulous and is now my new plumber for all things. These guys have been helping us with our plumbing needs at two houses over the last 20 years. This company is excellent. They are honest, highly skilled, prompt and knowledgable. Their prices are reasonable in the extreme. Especially as compared to others in the field, mechanics, appliance repair, contractors. I feel lucky to have found them years ago when I did after a few disastrous experiences with incompetent and fraudulent plumbers who not only over-charged, but left the situation worse than it began. I have used them for both furnace replacement and maintenance for many years and not only have been more than pleased, but also appreciate being provided all options in advance. We've used the services of Gene Burch Plumbing several times -- most recently on two bathroom re-dos which required some difficult under-house pipe updating, moving tub drain in the floor, and moving shower valve, installing tub, etc. Bottom line is that we have found them totally professional, honest, conscientious, and hardworking. They are a bit more pricey than other plumbers in our area, but to a large extent, ya get what ya pay for -- and they earned their fees, and our respect. We'll use them again. I'd use them again, definitely. On time, fair quote (I compared a bit), clean, friendly. Took a little longer than they'd hoped but that wasn't there fault, my house is complicated to heat. They just put in a new furnace. A few months ago they put in my water heater. Positive experience both times. Found them through yelp. Go Yelp! I'm a big fan of Gene Burch and everyone who works there espcially Dutin. They did extensive work on our Eichler when we remodeled it 4 years ago. Since then, they have come out a few problems with our garbage disposal which we did not buy through them. They are always prompt, kind and efficient. Have been doing business with Gene Burch for over 15 years across all spectrums of their work (plumbing and HVAC), both installations and service. Always professional and extremely responsive to existing clients. Most recent example was an 'emergency' call re: a sump pump breakdown that occurred while we were on vacation (very pleasant!). Came home, called over the weekend, they were out first thing Monday AM, job well - and quickly - done, thank you Eric. The gentleman who came over was very professional. He gave a call 30 minutes before he came over and was ONTIME! He went above and beyond what we asked. He did a pretty big job for us which I think was bigger than they originally thought and it did not cost me an arm and a leg. I like thier protection plan in which they went around the whole house afterwards and did some adjustments and checks and gave some great recomendations for the future. Ther was no upsell. While I don't write many of these reviews, I felt compelled to comment on the service received from Burch. We had a water heater installed on xmas eve last year after our old one sprung a leak. Burch was prompt and did a huge job for us on short notice, saving our holiday (a house full of guests). Well 18 months later that heater developed problems. Even though Burch didn't make the heater, and the unit was out of warranty, they made good on their work and replaced the unit. Up until then, they went out of their way, at their own expense, to make it right. That warrants 10 stars IMO. When it comes to plumbing work, I want it done right, not cheaply. If you are getting a cheap price, something is wrong - either they are using cheap parts, or aren't paying their guys much. Burch has a fair price and their work sticks. Use 'em. I have used Gene Burch Plumbing since 1975 when Gene first started the business for remodeling plumbing work in my home. Since then, work has included remodeling, galvanized pipe replacement, water heater replacement, and repairs. Since they added the heating portion to their package, I have replaced a furnace. I currently have an annual maintenance package for my plumbing and heating systems. Since I have been using their services for the past 37 years, I guess I can say that I am totally satisfied with their service, response to emaergencies, and competitve pricing. I totally recommend this company to handle your plumbing, heating, and air conditioning needs. Another comment is that the organization has been an annual supporter of my Rotary Club Fund Raiser. I have used Gene Burch for at least 6 years for a number of properties. They are always responsive and fair. We had a property on the Larkspur Boardwalk and fixing plumbing there involved crawling under the house, through the briny mud and timing it for low tide. Most places would give you a lot of push back, but they always slugged through the muddy mess. I have had furnaces installed, boilers for radiant heat, split systems and various toilet, sink and water heater work. They tell you whether something will last awhile or what the upside (or downside) to a replacement will be. When I have had an emergency, they come out right away. I could not be more pleased with the work they just completed for our organization. This was an "emergency" for us and it was refreshing that they saw it that way and got to this job right away. The original promises that Gary made in his proposal were fulfilled by excellent employees, who were knowledgeable and communicated with me every day. Eric (and co-worker) completed the field portion of this project with professionalism and I would highly recommend them for any project in the future. I have personally inspected the work that has been done recently and I have every reason to believe it will pass the formal building inspection when that happens. Even the receptionist treated me like an old friend every time I phoned the office. Our first experience was an emergency situation on a Sunday and they came out right of way to resolve our problem without charging extra. Since then we became one of their regular customers. I was also instructed on how to get a rebate for recycling my old abode and I received over $100 bucks for it! Our water heater broke and we needed a new one. I looked online and called Preferred Plumbing. The guy showed up in a beat up old truck and frankly scared the hell out of me! NEVER use Preferred Plumbing!!! So my next call was to Gene Burch Plumbing. I talked with them and was on the phone with a charming nice and educated person immediately. They got me in touch with one of the owners Gary and he met with me shortly after. Very presentable, on time, knew the business and overall a great guy. We talked through all the options I had and how I could work to make our place as "green" as possible. Gary had many suggestions and we ended up going with a 96% efficient water heater and were able to run the whole house on one instead of the two they had in there before. Their team came out on time and did a fantastic job installing. I was pleasantly surprised when my wife called me and said that Dustin, the tech, was so great and she was so impressed on the work he did and the company he worked for. After installation I mentioned that it was making a bit of noise and Gary quickly came out, evaluated the situation, and installed a fix to make it vent into the attic so it would not make any more noise. I was very pleased with the service and this is the type of business I would love to recommend to anyone! Gary and his team are great and I would trust them in our home anytime! They had done a previous emergency plumbing issue for us during the summer and we thought they were great. We just had them come out to check out the furnace. He was on time (imagine that) and did a great and honest inspection. I was really expecting to hear we needed a new furnace now, but he told us it will last for awhile. He was honest that when it does go, it probably won't be repairable because it is about 30 yrs old, but did not try to talk us into anything. We are very happy with them and would use them again. I didn't give 5 stars because we didn't really have them do work today. I will save the 5th star for when we have to replace the furnace. Gene Burch T. 12/06/10 |
