While considering companies from whom to purchase a new HVAC system, a good friend and neighbor recommended that I speak to Darryl Boswell from Progressive Service Company. My neighbor raved about Darryl going above and beyond the call of duty when he worked with him several years ago. So I called Darryl, who came out the next day, reviewed my needs and situation, recommended re-situating the furnace to give me more space in my attic, and provided a quote that same day. I checked other Progressive reviews online and was satisfied that my neighbor's recommendation was shared by others and it was, across the board. We accepted the proposal and the installation occurred a couple days later by Brandon Upchurch, who did a great job. Darryl was also in attendance at the outset to ensure that Brandon was on the same page re the re-configuration. I was very impressed with all aspects of the process, from bidding, through installation, to clean-up. The Field Technician was patient and methodical and at last resolved the issue we had with our new recirculating Budzar chiller. I have used Progressive Service Company for many years. They have performed rough-in work, finish work, and repair work for plumbing in a number of residences I have owned. Each time I have used them, they have been prompt and professional. When circumstances prevented a technician from arriving in the estimated time window, I was provided with timely information by the office staff, and given re-scheduling options. For recent rough-in work, the technician was knowledgeable of the current local building codes, and handled the work neatly and efficiently. The rough-in passed inspection with praise from the inspector as to the quality of the installation. I have had similar positive experiences for installation of plumbing fixtures, and finish plumbing work. The nature of some of the plumbing repair work I have asked Progressive Services to perform was difficult to estimate. It required some disassembly and work to assess the problem. The technician provided estimates for the most likely scenario, as well as for the 'worst case' scenario. This allowed me a choice: live with the problem, or pay to have it fixed, knowing what the cost might be. The technician explained and documented his findings before proceeding. Each time I have used Progressive Service Company for plumbing work, the office staff and the plumbing technicians have provide estimates for work, and informed me of the cost of the visit. When I first began using Progressive Services Company for plumbing service, I would get estimates from other Plumbing Service providers. Progressive Service Company was usually not the lowest initial estimate, but the difference was not significant. More important then the initial cost estimate is the manner in which Progressive Service Company handles costs: a fixed amount for a service call and an estimate of cost of the work to be performed. After years of using Progressive Service Company, I don't bother with alternate bids for minor repair work. I would imagine there are other Plumbing Service companies in the area the provide a similar level of service. If you have a plumbing professional you have used in the past and are happy with, I would recommend staying with this professional. Doug K diagnosed the problem with my HVAC system and also did the replacement of the factory defective evaporator coil. My AC unit kept throwing the outside breaker. The technician was here a bit outside the time window, but it was lightning and pouring rain and I imagine he had to wait for that, arriving 15 minutes after things cleared up. He did a cursory look at the unit and thought it may be the breaker itself. He took things apart and found a wire that was was charred. He said the wire was loose, so that was probably the problem. Just to make sure, he tested the AC unit's "freon pressure" (I don't remember the right term) and the capacitor. He said he was 99% sure that things were fixed, but if it did throw the breaker in the near future, ask for an electrician let them know that the breaker needs to be replaced. Keith was very professional. He put his booties on when entering the area to go to the attic area. He explained about the replacement of the compressor capacitor. He brought the correct size ladder to enter the attic area. And most importantly did not scrape the walls with it. We have 12 foot ceilings. Great job. Had both Justin and Doug out this week for routine maintenance. Both of them were on time, professional, courteous and completed their work in a timely fashion. They explained what they were doing to the HVAC unit and gave recommendations on followup items for one of the units...everything was explained in easy to understand terms. I can rate my emergency call to Progressive because my system was red tagged by the gas company for a gas smell. I contacted Progressive first thing in the morning. Jessica was very pleasant and accommodating. Keith was here before noon and addressed the problem.
