Arnold did a great job installing my tankless water heater. We sat down and discussed the pros and cons of a tankless, as well as the advantages of the model we chose over the others. He was very professional in his installation and answered the many questions I had about the unit and the steps he was taking during the installation. the tech was perfect for the job, other than he chipped my wall when he removed the scrap, my wife was livid. but the price was insanely high for the small amount of work. even though it was the " minimum charge". besides that, the plumber was knowledgeable and informative. completely understood what I needed done and got it done quickly. Situation: I need a tank less water heater installed. (I already have it and every piece of plumbing/electrical equipment needed to finish the job) First 4 hours late from the time window I was given. Second He looks at the owners manual of the unit as though he has never seen an outdoor tank less water heater before. Third he says "How is this vented".....it's an outdoor water heater the vent is clearly on the front of it. (Now I know he has not done any of them or not many) Fourth he proceeds to tell me the city would not pass outdoor units with the permitting. Fifth right after he tells me the city won't permit them he proceeds to tell me that people in the area use them for hot tubs.....(So what your saying is your lying to me about the permitting) Sixth he warns me if the unit breaks it is a 1500 dollar fix......the entire unit was 800 dollars (I think I would buy two more before I would let them fix the old one at basically the same rate) Finally he gives me quote of 2500 dollars for the install of the unit.......seriously... So I explained to him I already had a quote from another company of 1500 dollars without them knowing I already have all the equipment. (They did know I had the water heater itself) So out the door he went. Now just in case he was right about the permitting I went to the city building(across the street) and they looked at me like I was stupid when I asked if any special sort of permitting was needed for an outdoor tank less water heater. They said no and stated that unit comes with a picture and it needs to look just like the picture when they come out to inspect it. (This is what I thought as I already talked to them 5 months earlier). I have called the original company that gave me the 1500 dollar quote and they will be out in a few days to install the unit. As well I told them I already have every piece of equipment needed for the install. And they said the amount would be less then and the technician that come out will give me another quote before he begins the job. I am not sure if the plumber who came to my house was just really lazy or just new and didn't want to work. Also since he is representing Action I will never call the company again even though he might be new. As a side note as well I would like to state that my basement ceilings he would be working at to connect everything is completely open at this time with nothing in the way. And my water heater I have is a Rheem 8.4 GPM 2-3 bathroom house unit. And if anyone is wondering yes I have the Ball valve connection which are costly as well as the gas line which was costly as well. (See More)
