Joe Forde came when he said he would to install two Nest thermostats that I had been unable to get to work. He correctly figured out that a relay was needed for one, and the other had a defective base plate. Both now work brilliantly! These guys are not cheap but they are knowledgeable and professional. Joe also patiently explained everything to me over the phone as he was analyzing the problems. Thanks.

Tony A (technician) kerivan-lane I was told a tech would arrive bet. 8 & 9? Unfortunately, when I called the young lady who answered, she had to check where he was on route. Tony was unaware of his job for the day until he arrived at work. He arrived after 9:20a.m. Upon Tony's arrival he explained his work day, what he was doing and where he was beginning in my home. Knowledgeable, efficient and cleaned up like he was never here. Answered all my silly questions and was thorough. Tony also worked with electrician Sean J., (whom he had not met) two of them were a Great team!! Tony A did an amazing job on the outside connecting everything together. 5 stars for him! Thank you.

Kerrivan-Lane has always responded quickly to our requests and needs. Peter came today to help with one thing and I was able to ask him to look at other plumbing fixtures I had questions about. He was able to make the repairs and he found other things that needed tightening and reconfiguring to function more efficiently. Thank you so much for your patience with my questions and requests. I strongly recommend against using this plumber because they lack qualities that are important in any service relationship: Expertise — They were unable to identify the issue causing my heating problem. They then suggested repairs that they acknowledged were unlikely to solve the heating problem. Responsiveness — They did not keep me informed of delays in their arrival, which they had promised to do. They also declined to to provide a quote to replace the system, which I had asked them to provide. Honesty — they charged me for 75% more time than they were actually there. They also did not quote me rates in advance of my appointment even though I asked them to do so. And they also told me the plumber was on his way when in fact he hadn’t even arrived at their office yet. When your plumber is dishonest, unresponsive and lacking in expertise, it is best to go elsewhere. Details of my experience are below. ------- I had contacted this company on the basis of its online reviews. I explained that my heating hadn’t been working for several months in one zone in my home. I explained that my regular plumbing service had checked the unit and had advised complete replacement of the boiler at a significant cost. I asked Kerivan Lane to come out and advise whether in their opinion the unit could be fixed and also to provide a quote on the replacement cost. The company phone representative (I believe it may have been Mike but I’m not certain) was delighted to have a new customer. I was told that I would be the first call on Friday morning and that I would receive a confirmation call the night before and would receive a call 30 minutes in advance of the plumber’s arrival. When I did not hear from the company by 745 on Friday morning, I called to inquire when someone would be coming. It took some time, but I eventually reached Jessica. Jessica explained that they don’t open until 8 (and that's why I hadn't received a call), but that the plumber was in fact already on his way. She could not quote me service charges or hourly rates, she said. In fact, the plumber called at 815 AM and said he had not yet left the office, but would be there at about 830 and wanted to know if this was still okay. I reluctantly agreed. The plumber arrived at 830 and, after I explained to him the problem that I’d been having, he said that lack of flow to a single zone is usually caused by air in the line, and that the system simply needed to be purged. He worked on it for awhile and eventually called me downstairs. He said he had been unable to flush the line because the pipes were frozen. He acknowledged that this would not explain the lack of water flow for several months, but said that there wasn’t anything he could do until the pipes thawed. He showed me how to shut off the valves in case the pipe burst. I asked if he had any thoughts as to why one zone out of six might not have been working for several months, and he said that he did not know. I suggested that it might be due to inadequate pressure (the zone in question is the uppermost zone in the house, and I had been told by the regular plumber that this was probably the issue). I also noted where the pressure gauge in the boiler showed a low pressure. The Kerivan-Lane plumber dismissed this possibility, noting that since I’m getting hot water elsewhere on my home, the boiler clearly is adequately pressured. I asked him if he would be willing to measure the pressure himself (since the gauge was apparently not working by his estimation) and he said that he would not. I asked him what his next step would be after the pipe thawed (if, in fact, this was the issue, which is entirely unclear to me). He said his next step would be to replace a corroded inlet valve—a valve through which water from the city travels to fill the boiler. I asked him how this could explain the lack of hot water in just one zone out of 6, and he said that it probably would not explain my issue. After asking numerous questions and not having them answered, I gave up. The guy left after being at my home for an hour, without having addressed any of the concerns and without having inspired any confidence that he could even begin to address the problem. He also did not provide any replacement quote as he had been asked to do. He also did not leave an itemized bill. The next day I received a bill via email for 247.75. It did not provide any detail of the charges. So I called on Monday to inquire about the charges. I was told that I had in fact been charged for 1.75 hours of labor (he was at my house for an hour after arriving 30 minutes late).

He diagnosed the problem quickly, replaced the aquastat, and waited until he was sure that we had both heat and hot water, and also waited a while until he was sure the aquastat would also shut off properly once the water reached the high limit. I have been a customer of Kerivan-Lane for a little more than a year. Deliveries have always been on time, with accommodating methods of payments. Recently, I had a boiler issue, which in turn caused a pipe to freeze during the severe cold in January. When contacted, they quickly sent someone to our home to try to remedy the situation. Tony A. who worked on fixing the issue, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He even came back the same day without any worries, to confirm that there was a more severe issue. He was kind enough to also check up on us a few days later. Unfortunately, the frozen pipe we were dealing with, ended up bursting - a risk warned by Tony on the day of intervention. I contacted him directly late that night when it occurred, and Tony kindly answered my call and helped me remotely to stop the leaking. During the whole experience, he shared in advance his opinion about the issue(s) and how he planned to fix it. I valued his expertise, as well as his care, offered both by him, as well as the company. This is without any doubt a serious company who cares about its customers.

Recently, I had a boiler issue, which in turn caused a pipe to freeze during the severe cold in January. When contacted, they quickly sent someone to our home to try to remedy the situation. Tony A. who worked on fixing the issue, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He even came back the same day without any worries, to confirm that there was a more severe issue.
