I've used Woolley for plumbing repairs before, and this year Art D was the tech who came to perform our annual gas boiler inspection and he did a fantastic job. He explained the process throughout and the reasoning for each of his steps, cleaned the site afterward and left it looking better than it did when he arrived. He was courteous, professional and friendly and adhered to all of the COVID-19 safety protocols like social distancing and wearing a mask. My AC stopped working on a hot August day and I had company coming to town to stay with me the next day! I called Woolley in the evening around 6:30pm and a live answering service picked up the call and took all my information and let me know someone would contact me first thing in the morning. Sure enough at 7:30am I received a call back and by 8:45 a technician, Art, arrived on site! He was wonderful, did a thorough job, talked me through the issue, provided advice going forward and cleaned up everything once he completed the job. He got my AC running again within an hour or so. Art is wonderful (as usual) as he is typically the tech they send. Today was not so good news but there is apparently a right way to break it. My system is completely shot. He fixed it as best as he can. The point I am making is he leveled with me. It takes a qualified tech and a decent human being to just flat out say "I did my best to get you running but this is what is going to fix it...". Woolley could just as easily have strung me along at a thousand dollars a visit and made out on the deal but they did the right thing for us. It's not always a good outcome, but at least when it's the worst case scenario they look to truly help rather than rip off their long time customers. (See More)

Great service and fast appointments. I had Art come out to help get the steam heat working in my new house. He took the time to explain how the entire system worked and walked me through how to run and maintain everything from the boiler to the radiator valves.
Also had Craig come out to do a tune up of my boiler when we first moved in. Like Art, he took the time to explain everything he was doing, walked me through how to service and drain the boiler, and pointed out a few items I should replace to keep things in working order.

While performing the service Art explained some of the features of our boiler and showed me how to perform a check of the system if for some reason it failed. This included how the computer would reset and indicate the problem area so this information could be used when calling for service. We have had the Woolley Fuel Company as our home heating fuel supplier for over 20 years and could not imagine having better service. Our fuel oil is always delivered on time. Over the years they have maintained the burner equipment and kept it running at top efficiency. They aided us in removing our old in ground oil tank and installed the new, safer tank in out basement. There plumbing service is the best. When our hot water heater started leaking, they arrived quickly, removed and replaced the tank with a new one, with all new plumbing, the same day. Special praise is due Art and Dave for their skill and knowledge regarding anything about oil burners and plumbing. Their work is top quality and they leave the work area cleaner than they found it. Today was the first snowstorm of the season. About a foot of snow was expected. And, of course, our boiler went out. We called one company we've used in the past and they weren't sure they could get to us. We even called PSE&G (we were desperate) and were told they could come out tomorrow. Understandable since the roads were so treacherous, but we didn't want to spend 24 hours without heat. Finally, I googled emergency HVAC services and Woolley Home came up. I called and was told someone could come today. Within an hour, I received a call that they were on their way. They arrived earlier than expected. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any and all questions. One of the first things they said was, "We'll get you warm again in no time." It's hard to explain how much of a relief that was. They worked quickly and methodically and were done in less than an hour for a price that was far lower than expected (feared). In short, Woolley Home was AWESOME and we'll be forever grateful for them for coming out on a day in which no one wants to be on the road and giving us heat as a blizzard fell outside. (See More)

Sad to learn that Woolley Home is not BBB accredited. (Perhaps it is under the name Woolley Home Solutions or Woolley Fuel Company.) I and my parents before me have been dealing with this firm since they were A D Runyon. They have maintained our furnace with excellent service for over 60 years of conversion from coal to several furnace replacements over the many years of living in the same house. I just had my annual furnace tune-up with Art D. and Chris. They called me ahead of their expected ETA, arrived early and the job was done efficiently, and all was left clean in the furnace room in the basement. When my Mother was ill in the hospital in December, 2011, I had to leave the basement open for the techs who were scheduled to install the latest furnace and tank while I was at the hospital daily to oversee Mother's care. This major job took about a week. I was able to have heat and hot water when I came home in the evenings. I cannot tell you how trustworthy and honest the guys were--no problem! I would highly recommend this company to other homeowners--and courtesy, knowledge, honesty, people skills reign supreme. (See More)

I am visiting my elderly parents this week and found the heat out in their home after being away for the day.
Wooley was very responsive and sent Art D. out to resolve the problem at my parents house. I've owned a home in the Boston area for 30 years and found Art D. from Wooley to be more qualified (and personable) than anyone who has been sent to my home in Boston during all my years of home ownership.
My parents system is large and complex and Art D. spent time to clearly explain what he thought the problem was, how he was going to confirm his suspicions, and then went about fixing the problem. When he discovered that he didn't have a critical part in his truck, he called Wooley and advocated for my parents and got the missing part delivered within an hour.
After getting the heating system back on-line, Art D. took me back down to the basement and showed me exactly what had been replaced and how to monitor its health going forward.

So I dont usually leave reviews but Art D came to my house after being visited by the "Service Professionals" from Union NJ. The other companies told me i needed 1000 dollars in repairs, when I refused to do that and told them i wanted more estimates, I was charged 100 dollars for his "time".
Art came in and spent literally 2 hours to diagonose the problem. He tested all elements of the system, and even laser measured the temp coming from the outlets. At the end of the day it seemed to just be that the condenser needed to be cleaned, a simple wash with the hose did it!!!

I am rating the service technician, Art D. with the five stars, NOT WOOLLEY FUEL. I have been a customer for over 20 years, and also a gold member. The company has always contacted me to let me know I am running low on oil. On 7/2/15, I completely ran out of oil and I contacted the company on Friday 7/3 and was advised I would have to wait until Tuesday7/7 in order to get oil as their office was closed for the holiday. I was advised that if a technician had to come out, I would be charged $49 on the spot. Art D. came on 7/7 and was very surprised to learn we did not have oil for days. He apologized for the poor service I received being that I am a long time customer and was not given any courtesy. Art was extremely friendly, professional, trustworthy and knowledgeable. After talking to him I changed my mind as I was researching other companies where I could take my business. Woolley Fuel needs more technicians like Art as he is a complete asset to that company. Woolley Fuel Company is located in Maplewood and services the Watchung area. When I had an issue with my old oil burner, I telephoned them and they sent out a technician and he did a complete diagnostics on the system. I he got it working perfectly, but he found that the heat exchanger had a crack in it. How many companies check for that - CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING POTENTIAL. I bought a new furnace from them and the installation went very well. I have now used the Woolley company for about the last five years and each year they do a great servicing of my oil burner and air conditioning. My last service man was Art D and he did a great job. However, I should mention that the rest of the employees are just great to work with. Stephanie is wonderful with the accounting issues, never a problem. Craig has serviced my system and supervised the installation of the new heating system. He too is great.
This is a great company and they pay attention to details and that makes my life a lot easier.

My oil furnace went out, and even though I didn't have a service contract Art came out the same day. What I was hoping was a quick repair/tune up turned into a major repair because apparently someone previously installed the wrong parts which caused a cascade of problems. Ended up that Art had to basically rebuild the burner (new transformer, blast tube, nozzle) in addition to the normal servicing and clean out. I could tell that he cared about getting the entire system humming along in top shape, not just replacing the parts so that the furnace would run. Throughout the repair, he showed me what he found and explained what needed to be done. He was very thorough, efficient, and even though I was pretty stuck - it's cold and I need heat - he didn't run up the bill. Woolley's got a new loyal customer!! (See More)

Art D & Tom gave our furnace its annual cleaning today and it appears to have been a nice job. They were courteous and answered most of my questions. [There usually are questions about air filters and why service people do not come prepared to change such filters for the unit being serviced.]
I tried to use the ReviewBuzz function on your business card but backed away when it demanded my birth date - an insultingly unnecessary demand! Also, on your phone line I have been ANNOYED by the numerous on-hold ads, especially since being on hold seemed unnecessary in the first place.
