We got up on Saturday morning to no heat. I immediately called MacGregor, knowing that this was not a normal work day. The operator who answered was very polite and professional and after hearing our situation said that she would contact the technician on call. Within a short time we were called by the technician and within 1 1/2 hours of our initial call, he was here looking at our furnace. Jim was able to diagnose the problem and provide me a temporary fix to get us through the weekend as the part was not available anywhere. On Monday morning before I was able to call MacGregor, they called me as part of their followup. In about an hour, I had someone here from MacGregor going over my options so that I could make an informed decision. I am very pleased with the service and help that MacGregor provided. (See More)

On Saturday morning, I went to turn up our heat and only cold air came out (NO HEAT). I immediately called Mac Gregor Heating and Plumbing and got one of their operators. I told them about the problem which they in turn called their technician on call. Within 1 1/2 hours I had a call from the technician along with him showing up at our home within that time to diagnose our problem. Jim G. was that technician and he went right to work identifying the problem. He was very thorough, diagnosing the problem immediately- our furnace was on its last legs. He provided me with a temporary solution along with laying out options for us to consider. Jim was most helpful. He followed up immediately, much faster than I anticipated. In my mind he receives a perfect 10 out of 10 for what he did. My annual service contract with Mac Gregor is well worth the cost and I greatly appreciate the service that I received in resolving this situation. (See More)

Jim from MacGregor's came and looked at our problem, water pump motor not running, diagnosed it but could not get parts to repair it. He suggested a alternative plan to find the part which I did by calling Luttrell's (business was not his suggestion just the type of business) who had the part and came an installed it. Problem solved. Debbie deserves a thanks for getting Jim to the house before the promised 5 pm which greatly contributed to getting our water pump running before the weekend. So even though they couldn't fix the problem in a timely fashion they still helped us get to the final repair. (See More)

Dear Jim and Ann, Thank you so so so much for your prompt and expert help! I first placed the call to MacGregor around 5 PM about my water heater problem, and within 24 hours the hot water was flowing again and I was able to take a shower finally. First, Ann took my call, understood my problem, explained to me about MacGregor's currently fully booked schedule, and made sure a technician to contact me that night. Jim called me right away and came over the next morning. The problem was actually tough. It's the power vent broken. And the broken part was not available anymore because the 10-year-old model had stopped being manufactured! Also it was the peak season of water heater and furnace maintenance (just before our winter started). But Jim squeezed me in amid his busy engagements, managed to find a similar power vent, and installed it on my water heater that same day all in the pouring cold rain. Nevertheless, the installation was not so straightforward. As it's a different model, it didn't physically fit. Jim re-arranged the original duct, adjusted the new power vent with some additional gadgets, and did some re-wiring to complete the installing as promised. It has been two weeks now since the fix. And the water heater has been running great, with much less noise than before. It's perfect. I cannot be happier. Jim and Ann, you both cared about my predicament of being without hot water. And your professionalism, dedication, and expertise carried through to save the day. I am grateful for your ultimate service. Am sorry for the late note. My furnace went out in the middle of the night and when I called MacGregor in the morning, they were extremely responsive to my situation (cold temps exacerbate my health problems) and had someone here quickly. Jim G. was very professional and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem (which included having to go back to the shop to get a part to complete the repair). Jim came on time. He took care to wear shoe covering so my carpets remained clean, even though he had to enter my dank basement. Jim was informative, telling me about the process of evaluating my furnace and preparing it for winter. He showed me how to change the temp setting on the water heater so my guests and grand kids will not be startled by the HOT water I normally use. I called at 7 am and was told a technician would be out by 5 pm. Jim arrived at 4:45pm, diagnosed the problem with my geothermal heat pump within a matter of minutes. MacGregor has been our plumbing and heating company of choice for about 7 years. They do the job at reasonable prices and their staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Jim replaced our hot water heater last weekend (on a Saturday) and stuck with it until the job was done. Then he called on Sunday to be certain everything was okay. In the process of replacing the heater, he uncovered a potentially serious problem with the electric feed into our house (voltage spiking). We were able to call Consumers Energy to get it corrected. I would recommend MacGregor to anyone (and everyone!). (See More)
