John W arrived this morning when our heater stopped working.He was extremely knowledgable, professional and friendly. He knew what he was doing and replaced the heating element with a new on in about 20 minutes and explained how it works so I could understand.
Not having your heater work in Northern Michigan was very unnerving.
He was also very personable and like-able person working on a Saturday to keep us warm.
Would defiantly recommend him and will stay with your company. (See More)

Our hot water heater went belly up on a recent Saturday morning. Thank goodness we’re on MacGregor’s service plan because John showed up as promised ready to repair the problem. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had the parts on his truck. We had complete confidence from the word go because John clearly knew what he was doing, never even mentioned replacing the unit (it’s old, he could have), and it was back in service in no time. Friendly, positive, he showed up on a weekend prepared and got the repair done asap. What else can I say? 5 star service with a smile! (See More)

2 year old Bosch boiler throwing "Error" messages. John found issues with the fuse holders and replaced them.
Error messages returned. Doctoring the fuse holders appears to have the problem resolved.
There appears to be an interferance between the fuse holders and the front cover door for the boiler. this may be the issue - this is a design issue with the Bosch boiler. John put thing together and it now works. (See More)

The snow and cold came last week and the furnace stopped turning on. Urg, thoughts of a costly solution were bringing fear of a sad holiday season.
Thank you to delightful Debbie at MagGregor Plumbing & Heating for getting things underway to have a service technician sent out and especially for reminding me that "every day is a good day".
I was so glad when MacGregor service tech, John Whitehead came in and immediately told me he was familiar with my brand of furnace. He readily accessed the belly of the beast and ran tests and exams to determine the future of my holiday cheer.
After a thorough investigation and some much needed internal upkeep, John W. had the mechanics functioning smoothly. He also brought me good news that this one service call was all that was needed.
I appreciate all the knowledge he kindly shared about the furnace workings and how truly professional he was throughout the service call.

John was awesome! I recently purchased a house with a fuel oil furnace. Through research I learned it is important to have annual maintenance and cleaning completed. Easy enough... until I started calling around and found out that nobody was able or willing to work on them or take on a new customer. I was told by several contractors to just buy a new furnace.
John came out, cleaned it, replaced one part, fired it up and then showed me how my entire heating / cooling system worked. He also looked at my tank to make sure there were no leaks or possible weak spots where it could leak.
He told me that my furnace was fine, would easily get me thru the winter and there was no reason to rush into replacing it until I was ready.
I really appreciated his honesty and when I do decide to replace it, MacGregor and hopefully John will get my business. (See More)

1st visit: The office staff was very helpful with informing me that my technician would be delayed. My technician, John, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He inspected the furnace and also looked at some piping and valves that he recommended getting replaced.
2nd visit: John was right on time to put a scope through furnace and replaced faucets and valves on a laundry tub. He checked some other plumbing items in basement & recommended that the sump pump valve be replaced. He also checked toilets and faucets on the 1st floor. Since we’ll need annual furnace checks/tuneups, he recommended that we sign up for the Service Partner Plan, which includes one furnace check plus one year of 15% off service/repairs. Again John was friendly and professional.
3rd visit (May 2021) John fixed both the hot water heater and the kitchen faucet. As usual, he was on time, professional and efficient. The office staff was also very helpful with setting up the appointment and communicating with me.
4th visit (June 2021) John did an annual furnace check and changed the filter. He also inspected all of the plumbing and made a suggestion for replacing an old vent tie-in pipe. John was very professional and thorough, and was a good communicator.
5th visit (July 2021) John replaced an old venting pipe that was not properly pitched (see 4th visit info). Our old farmhouse often needs improvements and John always recommends fixes that are important for maintaining the house. I like that he is very thorough and checks everything in the house when he comes out to do the annual furnace check. I wish that I had such a good plumber for my primary home in the Lansing area. MacGregor's also gave me an estimate before the job, and stayed right within the estimate, which I appreciate. (See More)

This past weekend (8/1/20) our A/C went out and we had not previously had a contract with MacGregor for service. Despite that, and that we were calling upon arrival up north at 6 pm on a Saturday, Debi did an exceptional job working with me and got John out there to our condo to diagnose the problem We were desperate, and Debi and John did out standing work. We couldn't even point them at our proper A/C unit at the condo building. Deb was committed to doing everything she could to help us. Our condo was 83 degrees when we arrived, we had 5 adults and 2 children under the age of 3 staying there that night and the next two weeks. Temp out side was 85 degrees. It was an emergency of maximum proportion. Debi worked to get John the technician there in 20 minutes and John, despite no help from us, figured out the problem and wouldn't give up till he had it running 100%. Your team is exceptional and not the typical - don't care, its the weekend, this isn't my problem, kind of team. Congrats on building and keeping exceptional employees that put customer's care first. We had an early-AM air conditioner problem. At about 6:15 AM Saturday (!) we called MacGregor. True to form, the call was answered by a live person who was polite and efficient. John Whitehead from MacGregor Plumbing is a true professional. Not only did he do a thorough job of seeking out and testing our entire boiler heating system and plumbing but he explained what he was doing and why throughout several steps of the process. He came out a few days earlier on an emergency basis to assess what was going on and said he would do everything he could to arrange for a timely return before we had to travel away from our house in Boyne City, MI.
He seemed one or two steps ahead of me on what I needed to understand and some extra precautions I wanted. You could easily tell he had many years of experience in HVAC, plumbing and these specialty boiler heating systems.
John was courteous, knowledgable and clearly took some extra time ensuring we were comfortable in understanding how to operate our complex system. He took care to check beyond the normal checks and spotted a couple of problem areas that needed correction. One of those was a leak in some pvc pipe that was deep in our crawl space.
I would highly recommend MacGregor Plumbing due to John W. and he represented the company well. He even offered to call him anytime with questions or clarification.
We need more people around like John W. who actually cares about what he is doing, makes sure to do it 'right' and demonstrates pride in what he does. Thanks John, for a job well done. We sincerely appreciate it!!! (See More)

Our hot water heater went belly up on a recent Saturday morning. Thank goodness we’re on MacGregor’s service plan because John showed up as promised ready to repair the problem. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had the parts on his truck. We have used MacGregor's several times; most recently for frozen pipes in ceiling during our recent freezing spell. I called early morning and John W. was out at our house by noon same day! He was very thorough in everything he did plus he went above and beyond what would be expected of him on this inspection. An example of this was that he asked and then did a check of our dryer vent pipes which he clean it out.
