I did my research, internet, BBB, etc., roofing materials. I chose Wells Roofing. I made the right decision. Great company, they stand behind their work. Professional. Arthur was by far the most professional and courteous individual I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He was there for me from step 1 until the job was completed. Not only did Arthur repair the damage to my home, but he was able to get me an entirely new roof. He makes the process of dealing with the insurance companies a piece of cake. After reading reviews and listening to the opinions of others, I contracted with AJ Wells to replace my roof after Hurricane Irma. Prior to doing so, I determined the company has an A Better Business Bureau Rating. AJ Wells doesn’t pretend to be the cheapest contractor to replace a roof. They are not. What they are is the best at what they do. Their reputation is well deserved. You can have confidence that the new roof will be properly installed. I observed my damaged roof being torn away and there was quite the mess. But, the company allocates individuals for clean-up daily so it was never an issue. My gutters had to be removed because 19 years ago, unknown to me, fasteners to hang them were drilled thru the metal drip edge. Other roofers would install a new metal drip edge and simply cut around where the fasteners were placed and leave the gutters in place. Cutting out these areas would have compromised the new metal drip edge and made it prone to leaking at the cuts. Wood was used to extend my drip edge two inches out from the house. I was told this was being done as a precaution to insure water would not penetrate my home and cause wood rot or other damage at the soffits. Peal and stick is used under the shingles to create a water proof seal in the event there was shingle damage or loss . Use of this material will result in a discount on your homeowners insurance. Only high quality lifetime guaranteed architectural shingles were used. The color was of my choosing with assistance from the company representative to insure it blended nicely with my exterior color scheme. Due to the shape of my roof and its gullies, the supervisor made note of areas of the roof at my front foyer that may be prone to leaking in the future. Special attention and care was taken of these areas. All metal flashing was replaced in gullies and at side walls. Having a stucco home, this necessitated cutting out approximately 5 inches of stucco where the roof meets the walls. The metal flashing was then removed and replaced with new metal flashing with water proofing sealant tape behind it. This is important because metal flashing that is not replaced that is rusted or corroded will not last thru the next roof cycle and will be a source of leaking. The stucco was patched and repainted. My chimney was torn down to access and remove and replace the metal flashing. Again, this is important as the chimney is a primary source of leaking. The chimney was rebuilt, painted, and a new chimney cap was installed. My three roof ridge vents were replaced and an additional two were installed. My roof received its final inspection from the city with no exceptions noted. Upon questioning, the inspector told me the roof was “perfect”. At conclusion of the job, a Risk Mitigation Report was prepared (paid for by the company) detailing compliance with law and ordinance. Upon submitting this report to my homeowners insurance company, it resulted in a 20 percent savings on my annual insurance premium. To conclude, my new roof is of high quality and was installed by professionals who are very personable and knowledgeable in what they do. They have taken all necessary steps possible to insure my roof is sealed and will not leak. I have counted within walking distance of my home about 26 new roofs installed by numerous roofers since Hurricane Irma. During construction, I observed a lot of instances where wall and chimney metal flashing was not replaced but simply painted black or left at its original painted color. Chimney caps were not replaced and were left rusting. Materials used did not appear to be the best. These homes will no doubt have roof leaks in the future causing their owners grief, stress and necessary repairs. AJ Wells would never install a roof that way. AJ Wells had replaced the roof on the house I purchased for the previous owner. Called them to investigate a stain in the room above the garage that looked to be from a leak. Arthur sent his guys out to investigate and what appeared to be a minor leak ended up being caused by a nail in the flashing under the stucco. It had been leaking since the home was built and had caused significant damage to the exterior wall. Arthur worked with my insurance company and replaced the two story section of this front wall. Even though it required extensive removal of material, they kept the mess to a minimum and cleaned up as they went along. After the repair, both the interior and exterior of the house look brand new with no signs of any work having been done. Great job.
Last week I called to have them investigate a second leak that turned out to be a leak around a window. Eric came out and diagnosed the problem. He resealed and then painted around the window while he was there to investigate. Did not even charge me.

I received Arthur’s direct number from a family friend. I contacted him and he worked around our schedule to come out for an initial consultation and delivered quality, efficient and professional service as promised. He has stayed in contact about deadlines and answered all of our questions big or small. Absolutely hands down the best roofing company!!! When Hurricane Irma blew through Jacksonville, FL my roof took a hit. I needed to act fast and find the best roofing company in Jacksonville, FL. I searched all the roofing companies in Jacksonville, went to their websites, read the reviews, and looked at how many stars they received. I also took note of HOW MANY reviews there were. AJ Wells came out on top. I called them and within a matter of days they had someone out here to take a look at my roof damage and go over their process. After a few hours of thinking about it, something in my gut told me this was the company, so I told their Rep Carlos and then Toney I wanted them to put a new roof on my house.
Their Rep Toney explained everything to me down to every detail including working with my insurance company. I had so many questions and I needed their help to ensure that I did not forget to do something when it came to the paperwork and you know what? They were there to get me through all of it. Having to put a new roof on your home after a hurricane is very stressful and AJ Wells staff put me at ease and helped me every step of the way, that was very refreshing! They assured me that everything was going to be okay. It was funny because I came home from work on the day that they were going to be at my house doing the roof and I rolled up on an ENTIRE CREW, and ENTIRE TEAM of the most industrious, focused, experienced, and productive roofing crews. My neighbor said to me, "hey, you got 50 guys on your roof" (he exaggerated a bit, lol). The amount of work they accomplished in a day was absolutely incredible. They worked until it was dark outside. In that one day, they had the old roof off and the new roof on. Absolutely incredible and the workmanship was outstanding.
After the team/crew was done for that day they did an all crew clean-up, even in the dark! The next day they came back bright and early and continued to clean up. The crew member who worked on my chimney did an OUTSTANDING job. He was meticulous and extremely details oriented in what he was doing. I was extremely impressed with his work and watching him from the ground. AJ Wells photographers were also extremely helpful and also answered a lot of my questions and believe me when I tell you I had about a million of them. I was a pain in their back but they were the most understanding and gracious professionals ever.
AJ Wells roofing company is a rare commodity in this day an age. You just don't see companies like AJ Wells Roofing anymore. Companies like this are almost extinct. Most companies out there don't truly care about the customer, all they are interested in is making a buck and rushing through the job. Not this company, they are, in my humble opinion, a customer first company. Arthur, the owner, is the most professional and understanding person in the entire world. He listens and more importantly, he cares. Arthur says what he means and means what he says, he stands by his word. I hope AJ Wells does not change how they do business because what they have going on is the best thing in roofing here in Jacksonville, FL.
I watched my neighbors get their roofs done after the hurricane and what I saw made my head tilt sideways. If there is any structural damage to your roof or house, he is allowed to fix the damage having a General Contractor’s License. So, this means one stop shopping for you. He can repair any repairs needed structurally to your house and put a new roof on your house at the same time.
It was a very pleasant experience dealing with A.J. Wells. From their salesman (Toney Poole, who is fantastic and highly knowledgeable) to the various crews that came out to fix and install my new roof, repair my gables and chimney and install new seamless gutters.

AJ wells roofing is AMAZING! They worked with us and our insurance company. The workers were nice, and worked super quickly. One of the days our roof was being worked on, it started to rain and the men had the entire roof covered and protected with tarp in less than 4 or 5 mins. The photographer that comes with the crew was very informative and friendly. She made us feel like we didnt have strangers working on our home! She and the workers worked hard to ensure other things didnt get damaged in the process of the roof being ripped off and replaced. But ANYTHING that had scratches on it is being replaced, we didnt even notice our railing had been scratched a bit and they notified us they would have someone out to fix it right away. We met Arthur Wells after we had a water line break in our bathroom. His company was a preferred contractor with Tower Hill insurance. We had no idea of who to use to handle the repairs so, we chose AJ Wells. Mathew was our first contact with AJ Wells and he handled the estimate. Every person we dealt with at AJ Wells was so professional and so concerned about our home. We were under construction for approximately six months. The workmanship of the trades that were needed for our repairs were truly exceptional. Plumbers, electricians, floor tile guys, carpenters and painters. Before our job was completed we met with another Mathew.....Hurricane Mathew.....We sustained additional damage to our house, including damage to our roof, pool enclosure, shed, gate and fence, window screens and several leaks in our house. So....who else should we get to do the repairs? AJ Wells...Of course. So we called our insurance company and requested AJ Wells to do the repairs, after all, they had just finished our water damage. This company and all employees have been outstanding and courteous and concerned. They know how to do the repairs and they have the resources to see the job from start to finish. Not once did I have anyone hounding me for insurance checks or down-payments. They said pay when job complete and satisfied. On August 4th 2016 we had a tornado in the area. Our insurance only wanted to patch a section of our roof based on the adjuster they sent out. But when a member of AJ Wells Roofing and Construction walked our roof and took pictures and did an estimate to the insurance company they agreed we needed a new roof. Without that additional inspection of our roof by AJ Wells Roofing and Construction to document the loose and damaged shingles we would have a patched roof now instead of a full new roof.
