My gas heating system was in dire need of updating along with my hot water heater. I called Universe Home Service at the recommendation of a friend. I used them previously for appliance repair but hadn't considered them for a major plumbing job like this. John came over to give me an estimate. He was very helpful with suggestions an answered any questions I had. They're estimate was in line with others I had gotten, so because of my friend's recommendation and John's professionalism, I contracted Universe to perform the job. On the appointed day, plumbing technicians James, Sean and Tristan arrived promptly at the appointed time. They worked efficiently and professionally and completed the job right on the estimated timeframe. James took the time to explain everything about the new equipment answered any questions I might have had. Every time I've called for service or visited the store on Merrick Road, I have always found the personnel to be extremely knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. A few times when I visited and thought I needed a specific part that I believed was defective, the counter person did a test on the part I brought, and not only told me I didn't need the part I was going to purchase, but instructed me on where he thought the problem could be. And he was right! Saving me over $100 on the purchase of a part I didn't need. Also, when I looked into repairing my old washing machine, the service rep advised me due to the age of my machine and the cost it would be to repair it, he suggested it was not worth repairing the old machine because after this part would be repaired, another part may break down. For these reasons, and my brother's recommendation on how professional Universe was when they installed his system at his house, did I contract with Universe to install an AC Ductless System in my home. The sales rep, John Van Horn, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and never pressured me into anything. As you can see, I have nothing but praise for this company (and I'm not related to any of them). I'm just an average consumer that appreciates a company that helps its customers resolve their problems and not just interested in making a sale to benefit themselves.
