Nobody wants to have a problem with household stuff... plumbing, electric, heating, a/c, appliances... we'd all just like them to perform the way they're supposed to. Unfortunately, that's not how any of this works. Problems are inevitable. And it's when those inevitable problems DO happen that I'm glad I deal with Tim and the boys from Universe. They show up when they say they will, they do what they say they're gonna do, and they won't stop until it's all working the way it's supposed to. Gotta love it! The latest storm knocked 3 of my ductless units out. Called Universe and got their first open appointment. Jason shows up, and an hour later everything up and running as good as new. Can't say enough good about these folks. They just flat out perform! (See More)

Jason is a great technician who has been to my home previously to make repairs and maintenance work on my heating system. Yesterday's visit was to see why my Air Conditioner unit failed to remain on after a brief period of running the day before. He checked the compressor and was able to get the system back up and running. I recently added my ac maintenance contract to my heating contract because I have had nothing but praise for this company. UNIVERSE prides itself on having knowledgeable service techs and providing timely service all year long whether its for your boiler or A/C systems. (See More)

Survey is repetitive. I already commented for you on 3 platforms and called to say thank you as it was finally warm in my workspace. J was wonderful. Fixed problem in a mask, kept social distancing standards, fixed problem.and reminded me that i have a service contract and owed nothing. He even reminded me to turn down the thermostat ( i set it to 90 hoping that it would reach over 66 degrees) kind, understanding and prompt service. I also appreciate the honesty and guidance because I'm not house smart. I work hard enough to have a house but not always sure how to fix things or what to do. (See More)

I even ordered a space heater, and made a video to ask for as advice as to why i might be setting my thermostat incorrectly. Universal is an essential service, they are allowed to do service calls. They were clean, friendly and kept social distancing standards. Universal wore a mask the whole time, flushed the radiator and reminded me i was on a service contract so the call was free. I was also reminded to turn thermostat down from 90 because if i didn't it would actually get that hot. When I'm not as house smart as i should be, it is nice to have honest professionals help me out. I have kept my service contract with them for years. The contract and company was recommended to me by the previous owner of the house. (See More)

Jason was great came in new right away what was wrong fixed and I was up and running.i called universe at about 7:30am they called me back about 20 minutes later gave me a time between 8am-12pm and Jason was here by about 9 am.i have a service contract with universe well worth the piece of mind.cant say enough about Jason very polite nice new what he was doing and it was Christmas Eve day and he was still very nice in a great mood great guy great company.but get the service contract well worth the money to have piece of mind. My heat failed this morning, around 4:30 AM. I turned off the furnace and went back to bed, thinking I could make it a few hours with no heat. I woke up around 7AM, the internal temperature in my home as 61, that's when I called Universe. Jay showed up to my house around 9, and quickly resolved my issue. The workers that have come the couple times when I had issues with my on-demand hot water heater are always kind and respectful. but overall as a company they are not very good on finishing the job, and doing it right I am starting to believe. Im still waiting for them to schedule my final inspection, it's been months. Apparently the installers who installed my unit put in the wrong exhaust. My "less than a year old" unit stopped working the other day. They said there was condensation buildup inside the unit. Dont know if that makes any sense but that's what I was told. Hope this is not a constant problem. Now they drilled another hole through the side of my house for a new exhaust. They said they would be back the next day to finish the job because part of the exhaust pipe is inside and they said it had to run outside. My siding is also all messed up now from the second hole. Hope they fix this before we get bad weather. It took 2 visits to get the unit running again because they had to get a new part. I am still waiting for them to get back to me about finishing up everything. It is now about 5 days later. (See More)

Told me I needed new gas valve, and a pilot assembly because the system was old and wouldn’t turn back on. Quoted me 740+ Told him I’m not paying 30% of the cost of a new boiler (2500) for a simple repair. Watched how he opened the boiler and removed the pilot. When he left I removed the pilot the same way, cleaned it up a little and re-lit it without an issue at all. I guess because I’m young he thought I wouldn’t know any better and tried to take advantage to charge me 7+ for an unnecessary job. Good thing I’m in the home improvement business and know a little better then most people do Because I would’ve been scammed out of 700+ dollars for no reason at all. I was planning to get a service contract with them but now there’s no chance in hell of that happening either. (See More)

I had a leaking hot water heater. Jason was fine. He diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts which would arrive in about a week. The job would cost a few hundred dollars. My issue is with the ensuing breakdown in communications. The next day I called Universe and requested a price to REPLACE the entire unit (a job that would cost approximately $2,000). I was told Jason was the person most familiar with my system and would call me back. Two days later and no return call. I then called Universe and requested to speak to a manager/supervisor. I was told that everyone was out on jobs, but someone would get back to me. No one did. I eventually purchased and installed a new hot water heater. I was disappointed that my calls were not returned. I had done business with Universe many times over the years and had been very happy with their work. My house has 6 hydronic loops, one of which was critical to keep warm to avoid a burst pipe. The tech flushed the air out of that loop, and it warmed up. However, after he left I noticed one of the other loops was cool, not an emergency, because it was not at risk of freezing. I will probably have to call him back after the big freeze ends, to flush more loops. (See More)

He also provided feedback on the unit, the setup of the house for cooling, and possible alternatives for the future.
