On Christmas Eve, the second day of 2022’s hard freeze in Austin, TX, all of the piping for our water softener “exploded” and I woke up to a geyser outside our house. I called American Water which was closed for the holiday, but the emergency service number provided was answered quickly by Brian. He immediately came out to the house and plumbed a bypass of the softener so that we had water once again in the house. He then scheduled a time when we could get our softener plumbing rebuilt. I was impressed with the rapid service and Brian’s focus on getting water service restored quickly. I considered this great service. (See More)

We got a water softener installed and the whole process was fantastic from start to finish. The salesman was very informative and very low pressure. We were interested in installing but, due to life circumstances, ended up needing to wait a couple years before we were able to move ahead. Once we were ready, we emailed them and everything just smoothly started up again. The workers who did the install were prompt, polite, actively communicated about the state of things and got the job done quickly. When they were finished, they showed us how everything worked and answered all our questions. Everything about this company is professional and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Excellent customer service. During the week of the snow storm of 2021, I called them on Wednesday, they were at my house on Saturday and gave me a quote the same day. Once Insurance approved, they scheduled the job. While on site, they were very professional and troubleshooted and identified a second water source feeding into the water softener. It turned out to be the garage apartment which we knew about, but did not know the exact line route. Would highly recommend. (See More)

The Texas power and water outage caused
Us to to also have water leak in our American Watercare system that we have had in our home since late 1999. We called American Watercare on Feb 17, 2021 and were quickly helped by Ellen at the Round Rock, TX location. Because roads were not drivable and they couldn’t come out that day she very professionally helped us and walked us through how to shutoff the system to prevent water damage until they get out to service it. She was on the phone with us for about an hour and we were so impressed by how patient and professional she was. We can’t thank her enough and American Water are for their wonderful service. American Water is a Great Family Business. They provide Top of the Line Water Systems at competitive prices. Their service is very professional and courteous. The water in my whole house is being treated and my personal test after installation shows the same level of filtration as a Brita or Pure Filter. The Reverse Osmosis in the Kitchen is providing Great Tasting Water, no chlorox, no lead, no alchaline or acidous residues. I should have purchased a real eater p rocessing system years ago instead of dealing with over the counter units and throw away water softeners. (See More)

This is my 2nd water softener with American Water. Essentially it is the same system as before. Why? Because it is so darned good! American Water also provided all the service and salt for my first system. They make it so easy. They are always friendly and easy to work with. I've always been happy with my system and with their assistance since I first purchased one of their systems years ago. Kudos to Dustin and Dustin, one of which provided service on my system, and the other for the installation of the new system. We had a great experience all around. Our old system (approx 20 years old) had stopped working, my husband went in and talked to American water and was greeted by friendly knowledgeable people and it was evident that we needed our old unit replaced. They scheduled an appointment that was convenient for us, arrived promptly and efficiently replaced & removed the old unit. The installation crew were quick and did a good job explaining the system. Had an issue with my newly installed S2500 from Kinetico. Called at 7:00 am and they were onsite by 9:30am. Dustin is fantastic. I have to say the the installation was a beautiful finished product, got back 65% of my shed back with his new layout but I digress. After much research American Water won our business based on their non electric water softer and customer service. Our Territory Manager Romaldo and VP Jennifer went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction.
As far as water systems they all perform the about same function but the family owned business like American Water makes me feel like more important not just another sale.
I had multiple quotes and the Kinetico stats had the most efficient and lowest waste. Win, Win!

After years of good service for our Kinetico RO unit we purchased a Kinetico Water Softener from American Water. We are extremely impressed with the Kinetico unit and even more so with American Water. A glitch in scheduling resulted in a missed appointment for installation. One quick call and they immediately arranged a delivery the same day. This involved routing a special truck from Austin to Georgetown to deliver the water softener and sending an installer working in the area. Salt was delivered by an employee in his own car. By the end of the day we were up and running. Everyone we talked to was competent, polite, and "nice". We very highly recommend American Water. After all, anyone can make a mistake. In College Station, there are only two options for RO water. 1) Get your bottles refilled at the local RO water shop. Or get the local RO service which offers old outdated and high-maintenance equipment which you have to have continually serviced. I just knew I wanted something better. I actually purchased a cheap RO system online and tried to find someone to install as I didn't feel confident doing it myself since a lot of these systems even installed by professionals have leak problems. Then I found the Kentico K5 RO system and fell in love with it. I had to have it. Yes it is not cheap. But it is known to have a long life span and seems better than any on the market. But no one in town offered it. I called the closest authorized dealer and they would not come to College Station. Don't blame them: why go so far just for one customer? But not to give up there I called the next closest: American Water in Round Rock. Not only were they ready and willing to come all the way to College Station, they also gave me a significant discount off a reasonable price on the system for someone local. They gave me several significant free items with the system too. They did not charge for installation and they did not charge for coming out to College Station. They pledged that they would be there to support me as if I was a local customer. All unexpected. (I had read reports of other companies gouging the price up on just the system for their local customers due to lack of competition. So I did not expect to get everything including delivery and professional installation and the free items and the couple of optional extras I purchased for half the price that Amazon charges for just the kentico basic system that you are on your own to install. I highly recommend this company. They said that College Station would be as far as they would go but if you are in the radius and thinking about a RO system. Go with American Water. They are great. The water and ice is so pure and clean and tastes like only water. So nice to fill my stainless water bottle with both and it last so much longer than just the cold RO water out of the bottle. So nice not to have to run to the RO store to fill bottles and lug them with my sore post-break arm. The installer was professional and courteous and instructed me on everything. There are also videos online if you forget. I am so happy and thankful every time I take a sip of that glorious pure water the way God meant it to be before man messed up the environment. Also, we got a cartridge that adds beneficial minerals back in. When you go to the RO store with water bottles you don't get that. I compared the water side by side. Only a slight difference in taste with the mineral canister. Not really noticible without a side by side comparison, really impossible to notice. If you don't like it you could always remove the canister if you have super taste buds but I would advise that we need those minerals for our health. So with this system you can get the bad stuff removed and the good stuff added back in. Takes very little room under the sink. If your sink is on an island, installers will say they can't run the line to the fridge but if you already have a line to the fridge it is often (not always) possible to use the existing line to the fridge. I love love love this and it was well worth the investment. Plus if you move you can take the system with you if you want. Just be sure this is understood in your house sell contract. Some people buying the house may offer to purchase it from you. Just make sure you get enough for it to replace your system at your new place. (See More)

I was very pleased with the management staff and Laura Elben, who made sure I had the right system for my needs and that I was pleased with the installation. Cody installed the system taking care to pay attention to detail and provide me information on up-keeping the system. He was very professional and took his time to ensure the best installation. This event started in early May and the first service was 5-10-19. I had called for regular maintenance of my water system. That was the first trip. My system would not cycle. It was serviced and I ordered a new filtration system. The repair did not fix the problem. Two weeks later the new filter was installed and the serviceman left. That evening I discovered the system still did not work. Around May 25 the serviceman came again and worked on the system and left. Later that night I discovered the system was still not fixed. I have now spent over $1100.00. Today on June 3 another serviceman came and. worked on the system and left. When I got home today, I found the system still cycling and dumping water on the ground. Something has got to change. They have made 4 trips here and I still have the same problem and am $1100.00 poorer! This problem has been going on and they can’t wait around to see if it is fixed. Due to the recent Texas Hill Country freeze, we experienced an outdoor Kinetico pipe break. Once the Austin Kinetico Technician Scheduler understood that I had no way to bypass the Kinetico equipment, she scheduled Chan to repair my broken pipe. He arrived about 430PM on the same day I reported the break. he was so efficient and had the broken pipe repaired in about an hour. It was easy to tell that he knew the Kinetico equipment and how to repair the break. I want chan anytime I need a Kinetico Tech. He represents the Austin Kinetico Company most professionally. This rating is related to the annual checkup service call.
I took the time mentioning the systems was not producing soft water.
The response was too much salt at the tank, and needed to be emptied.
Well, I spent the moneys and purchase buckets to empty the salt tank. Then called in to ask how the system could be re-activated on-demand. Got the instructions follow the instructions but the system never regenerated. On the contrary started leaking water thru the drain pipes as if it was regenerating. Today (less than a week later), the second serviceman was on point, and immediately tested the hardness of the water being 37 points. Again 37 points, that is hard water. It turned out to be the water softener is not processing the water and the system needs to be re-plumb so the serviceman can have access to troubleshoot the water softener.
Bottom line is, when you take the time to have knowledgeable employees, it makes a great difference on the service level. I just hope the next young man schedule to re-plumb and service the unit next week is as good as the one today, April 5, 2017.
Please note, I had been a very please customer for the past 20 years with American Water. I hope and pray it will continue to be this way. I like them as their model is family own service level. It is hard to find reliable companies for home services. (See More)

We just purchased our first home and it happened to have a water softener installed. I found an American Water sticker on the side and decided to give them a call. We wanted to get the system checked and serviced since we did not know when it had been completed last. Julian came out and was fantastic. The office told him we'd never had a softener before and he explained absolutely everything from how it works to the condition of our unit and the benefits of having it. We've had to deal with a lot of service companies since purchasing the new home and it was very refreshing to have such a wonderful customer experience. It's sad that it's so rare these days. We recently had another Kinetico installed (unbeknownst to us our previous model didn't have a dechlorinator which ruins the resin in the tank). Kinetico is a fantastic brand and American Water is one of the only providers in Central Texas. While waiting for our install date (approximately 2 weeks) our sinks, dishwasher, toilets, shower, etc. all accumulated hard water stains. It was definitely something we were happy to install.
