Sewer had backed up into my basement and there was 3 inches of this fun water in my workshop. After my complete melt down I had Lake Cook plumbing magnet on my refrigerator and called them right off the top. An angel of a receptionist ( Elizabeth ) answered the phone and assured me everything was going to be okay. The owner called me back in short time and confirmed that they were going to help me. A incredible service technician ( Mike B.) was finishing up a job near my location again called me to reconfirm that this disaster was going to be repaired. What an outstanding job that technician did and what world class customer service this company provides. Sewer was rodded, mess went back to were it needed to go and Mike was able to do another repair needed right afterwards while he was there. I called Lake Cook Plumbing Services early in the morning when I discovered that my sump pump switch was on the fritz after an overnight rainstorm. Although they were fully booked for the day, they were able to fit me in. They even sent me an email with the technician's photo and background, which I though was really cool. Brian, the technician, arrived within an hour or so, as promised. Brian was friendly when he arrived. He assessed my situation and suggested a few options. I ended up getting a new sump pump with float switch since the current pump was already 13 yrs old. He also replaced some PVC piping downstream as it was leaking and no longer safe. It took him around 1 hr to complete the entire process. Afterwards, Brian explained what he had done and asked if everything was done to my satisfaction. He left the work area clean and in great shape. He also explained a few other services that Lake Cook Plumbing offered such as their monthly service plan, which I ended up purchasing. We had a clogged sink in the kitchen. He rodded his auger and everything was done. Even though I am very much satisfied with the convenience of scheduling the appointment and technician's arriving on time, I certainly think $400 is a bit pricey for a workmanship which lasted for about half an hour and no parts were required. Scheduling fine, plumber fine, timing fine. However, he replaced a dull finish spin/lock basket/strainer with a high shine fixed post basket/strainer that doesn't match the sink. Need to have someone come out and change this out. 10/14/17 |

Lake Cook Plumbing sent Casey L. to remove my old water heater and install a new one they provided. I am very pleased with the quality of the service I received and Casey's ability to deal with several unexpected issues that arose. I would not hesitate to call Lake Cook if you need plumbing services. They took care of absolutely everything and treated my home with the same respect as if it were their own. They offer the quickest response to your concern(s), and their service technicians are not only talented plumbing professionals, they are also excellent communicators. We knew all our options and once we chose a solution to our sewer problem, the Lake Cook team made sure we understood everything they were doing. Had Casey over today to check my hot water heater and water pressure issues. He was on time, completely professional and gave me a ton of different options to meet my needs and budget. In the end his advice paid off and he installed a new hot water heater before jumping to a hot water recirculating pump. My old HW heater was well over 10 years old. He was in an out in a couple of hours and even helped fix the water pressure issue! I had called a few other local plumbers before calling Lake Cook and they never even returned my calls. Brian K. and Mike B. were very personable, polite, and professional. They checked out and answered my questions about our primary and backup sump pumps. They replaced our 16-yr old ejector pump and came equipped to handle the job. They pointed out additional plumbing needs to think about for the future, and offered advice and estimates. The service person was Mike B. He was very knowledgeable, polite, and willing to do whatever needed to be done, including when he unboxed the new water heater and discovered a large dent in the top and side. He called his superior, who authorized a $50 discount if we accepted the dented tank, but we thought that was just too much dent. Without any complaining or resentment, Mike hauled it back upstairs and out to the truck, and spent the time to go to a supply house for another water heater.

Before taking this plumbing company on, examine their work estimate very carefully and make sure that every little detail is completely understood and recorded in writing. Otherwise, you, like myself, will be out a lot of money while still wondering why only half the job was completed.
In their description of work, I was quoted two tasks. Task 1, over $2,000, was to restore water flow to my upstairs bathroom, and which required holes cut in my walls. Task 2, over $1,000, was to replace 4 valves in a bathroom. The work description clearly said "Tub Shower Valve Replacement" with quantity of 4.
After paying close to $4,000, my bathroom was still useless. I was told that task 2, which I was convinced was to fix my bathroom shower and sinks, was really part of the first task of just restoring water flow! And if I wanted my bathroom working, I would have to shell out more money, over the $4,000 I already paid.
Also, we paid $300 to get the toilet working again. After the first attempt to fix it, the toilet continually drained and filled. The plumber came out once more to try to fix it but it still drained and filled. We were then told that to get it really fixed, I would have to pay $400 more.
I have never before experienced such confusing and twisted charges. All told, I paid $3,844. Water flow, I am told, was restored to my second floor. But my bathroom shower, a sink, and toilet, still do not work. That would require more $$$. Save yourselves the headache, move on.

Both Jeremy and Brian were very professional, polite, and detailed in explaining the tasks that needed to be done involving the replacement of the sump pump discharge line. And after further inspection, Brian recommended the replacement of the pump itself. And I agreed. They carried out the very heavy work of installing the discharge line at a steady, fast pace. We called lake cook plumbing and Sandra was very helpful and polite and offered to waive the $50 fee if we purchased a water heater after the estimate. Brian K. came out today and was very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. He replaced our water heater and brought everything connected to the water heater up to code. He was willing to answer my many questions, and confirm things I knew, as well as add to what I didn't know. I really liked his suggestions and explanations. Two important things to know about your water heater:
1) the water heater needs to be vented properly so there's no build up of carbon monoxide. (Poisonous gas). NEVER use duct tape. It burns.
2) the emergency release valve should not be drained, if it leaks, theres a problem, solve the problem, it could explode if it malfunctions.
Have your water heater checked regularly.
The best part is that Brian helped out with hurricane Katrina.
