After having arguably the absolute worst customer experience with Culligan, I had conversations with friends in the neighborhood about what brand of water softener they use. I was told to contact American Water about the Kinetico softeners they carry. Needless to say, they were more professional and took much great care installing the new system than Culligan could possibly ever dream of. I can guarantee you if anyone I know asks who to call for water softener and drinking systems, there will not be any hesitation - call American Water and ask about the Kinetico systems. Justin was our water service specialist, inspecting and giving feedback for making our water taste, smell and feel better. He was no pressure, and informative.
Nathan was our installer for the new water softener and kitchen filtration. He was fantastic! Knowledgeable about the plumbing, set up, and installation. I have been an American Water Care customer for 22 years. Their staff has always been amazing! I have never been pressured to upgrade or replace and I trust the service techs completely. I wish I could remember the name of the technician that installed my softener last week, but I do remember Dustin coming out the day before and taking my old system apart. He explained everything that was worn out and showed me the evidence. He explained the cost of repair vs. replace and helped me choose what was best for my needs. During my research period, Brittney persistently followed up while answering tons of questions. The install process went smooth. There was a small issue we noticed post install but American Water promptly sent their on call technician named Brian & had it fixed immediately. We had been shopping around for water treatment systems for a while. Donald came to explain their system and educate me on water in my area. I felt like he was genuine and not like a salesman pitching a sale with no hooks or crazy sales tactics. When he left we felt confident that Kinetico was the way to go but decided to continue our search. He was very patient with me in regards to my search and was open to answering any additional questions I had. Dann and I first met Ronaldo at the Austin Home and Garden Show earlier this year and what he shared with us about the mineral content in the water here can totally clog your pipes and faucets even within the first year was absolutely frightening to me and my husband! We knew when we built our house we needed to get a water softener and a water purifier for our drinking water. After our home had been built, we immediately contacted Ronaldo to come out to our house test our water! We also met with another agent from another reputable company and we decided to go with American Water with Ronaldo, because of his very thorough presentation and his passion about clean water and American Water's reputation in the Austin area and all over the world!
We could not be more pleased! We love the drinking water how it tastes and our shower water leaves our skin and hair feeling quite soft. We are so thankful for our water system in our house and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of putting in a water system in their home! It is worth every penny for your health and for your home! It is wonderful to not be taking in all that chlorine, as well as inhaling it in our showers, and knowing that the water I am drinking is pure and good for my body and that the pipes in our home are being protected from calcium and mineral build-up. Ronaldo is very good at answering any questions you might have and he cares about offering you what is best for you and your home! I have worked with American Water for 20 years. They have put in several water systems for me. I love that my water system gives me better quality water than any bottled water on the market.
They have ALWAYS provided me with excellent service. They are professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I work with Laura and she's awesome!
Their prices are reasonable and they genuinely care about their customers.The techs are experienced and do a great job! They work quickly and efficiently.
I highly recommend American Water! Call them today you'll be glad you did

Our new water softener is going to be installed next week and I'm so excited about it. We first spoke with Jay Baker who gave us the run down of everything and set us up for an appointment with Donny. Donny came by the house and explained all the different options including the pros and cons of each one. He was very informative and took the time to educate on options. This rating is related to the annual checkup service call.
I took the time mentioning the systems was not producing soft water.
The response was too much salt at the tank, and needed to be emptied.
Well, I spent the moneys and purchase buckets to empty the salt tank. Then called in to ask how the system could be re-activated on-demand. Got the instructions follow the instructions but the system never regenerated. On the contrary started leaking water thru the drain pipes as if it was regenerating. Today (less than a week later), the second serviceman was on point, and immediately tested the hardness of the water being 37 points. Again 37 points, that is hard water. It turned out to be the water softener is not processing the water and the system needs to be re-plumb so the serviceman can have access to troubleshoot the water softener.
Bottom line is, when you take the time to have knowledgeable employees, it makes a great difference on the service level. I just hope the next young man schedule to re-plumb and service the unit next week is as good as the one today, April 5, 2017.
Please note, I had been a very please customer for the past 20 years with American Water. I hope and pray it will continue to be this way. I like them as their model is family own service level. It is hard to find reliable companies for home services. 04/05/17 |

American water gave efficient , honest service. I have well water and needed a new system related to a leak . He did not try to persuade me to purchase more then I needed , he gave me choices and I chose the right one for me . It is working great. We just purchased our first home and it happened to have a water softener installed. I found an American Water sticker on the side and decided to give them a call. We wanted to get the system checked and serviced since we did not know when it had been completed last. Julian came out and was fantastic. The office told him we'd never had a softener before and he explained absolutely everything from how it works to the condition of our unit and the benefits of having it. We've had to deal with a lot of service companies since purchasing the new home and it was very refreshing to have such a wonderful customer experience. It's sad that it's so rare these days. We had a Kinetico water softener and K5 filtration system installed in November of 2016 from American Water and we are extremely satisfied with both the feel and taste of our water. We would highly recommend Romaldo and the American Water team to anyone looking to have a water filtration system installed. Romaldo was a pleasure to work with. He was very thorough in his explanation and knowledge of the systems. He answered all of my questions and I didn't feel rushed or pressured to make a decision on whether or not to purchase a system. The installation crew was polite and efficient. They had no problems tapping into the main water line via a wall in my garage. We recently had another Kinetico installed (unbeknownst to us our previous model didn't have a dechlorinator which ruins the resin in the tank). Kinetico is a fantastic brand and American Water is one of the only providers in Central Texas. While waiting for our install date (approximately 2 weeks) our sinks, dishwasher, toilets, shower, etc. all accumulated hard water stains. It was definitely something we were happy to install. American Water was a great customer service experience every step of the way. Even when they ran into unexpected trouble with my install, they fixed it promptly and even had a manager come apologize in person and offered extended warranty and additional for the inconvenience. I have already loved that I go through less salt than my neighbors and the soft water makes a world of difference on my skin and hair.
Jason, my rep, was very knowledgeable about the product and I never ran into an unpleasant person. The lady that answered the phone was super friendly and the installers were so nice as well.
