My sales agent Brittney - was a pleasure to deal with. Unlike all the other water conditioning companies I've dealt with over the years - I asked her for no pitches - and what bottom line was right upfront - and that's what I got. Knowledgeable - Polite - and to the Point. If you like competing company Rep's who play games - using smoke and mirror tactic's - then Brittney is NOT your gal. Kinetico is the best NON-ELECTRIC system on the market - and to prove that - they put a 10 year warranty on their TOP system. If you're shopping for your 1st water conditioner - then you'll likely spend a lot less - get a lot less - and you'll be replacing it in 2 to 3 years - just like I did - more than once. But - if you do the research - realizing you GET what you pay for - and want to avoid the FAULTY SHORT LIFE system's - that run using electricity and electronics - then get American Water's TOP system - and be done with it.

The product itself would get a 4. The company who installs and services gets a 2.
The tech listed on this review did not do any of the installation, he is a manager at American.. The tech they sent out was very new and should have had more help available for him as he did not understand or know some of the technical things related to the system. He did a perfect job on installing per his instructions.
The system itself is great but as all things, some of the parts are cheap. A part in the brine tank broke after the 4th day. They sent a tech to repair the next day.
Follow through on the company hasn't been the best when asking for answers to the questions the tech could not answer. American Water does not follow the recommended installation steps that Kinetico does put in the installation guide. The only responses received were that they historically don't do some of the steps as they haven't had problems in the past. Not a great answer when contradicting the manufacturers guidelines. Romaldo was excellent. I asked a lot of questions and he was so informational. The water testing was fascinating to me and after meeting with him I knew so much more about water quality (hardness, chlorine, particles, ph levels). We purchased our first home in Buda, Tx and have never had a water softener system installed. After speaking with other home owners in the community we knew we would need a water softener installed. We called around and got multiple quotes from other water softener companies not to mention the slew of door to door salesman from water companies we have never heard of but Donny with American Water sealed the deal for us. Donny explained both electric and non electric systems to us and provided all the information to our questions in a clear and concise manner. There was no pressure to sign up which we really enjoyed. We had offers for a lower price system but ultimately went with our experience and interaction with American Water. The installation went very smoothly as well, technician showed up on time and installed the system within 2 hours, explained how our system would work and any maintenance items we would need. We have lived in the City of Austin most of our lives and never thought about water softeners before. After feeling the huge difference with non chlorine water we will never go back to plain ole city water. It makes a huge difference on your skin, hair, clothes, washer and everything else! I am thrilled with our whole house filtration system. Yes, it was expensive. Yes, it was worth it. The appearance of appliances improved immediately, including scale and deposits in the toilet tanks. Taking a shower is a pleasure. Now, I can take water from the RO system for my canning, wine making and fermentations without running to the store for filtered water. It's not often that I'd write a review about a product that costs money, but then in the final analysis, I would be less than totally honest if I didn't say I was COMPLETELY satisfied with all that I came in contact with from this company for beginning to end. Starting with Ellen who took my first inquiry phone call 4 months or so ago, who spent a great deal of time on the phone explaining and answering every question I had about the products. Then Romaldo, who came to my new house and spent close to 2 hours going thru the product again as well as the benefits that would be received if purchased. And then Cody the technician who installed the product and took the time to completely orient me to the workings, and how to maintain the device. Overall, a very "customer oriented" organization as well as a top notch product, certainly to be worth the expense. Jason Watson came by the house twice to explain the system, installation and advantages of the Kinetico system. I heard about the system on KOKE radio, Bob Cole and company and did some research. I was very pleased with the efficiency of the installation. Chad and his helper were professional, proficient and polite. Chad went out of his way to get the installation done correctly and saved me money by cutting the time and work involved installing.
Since the installation, my wife and I noticed an immediate improvement in the taste and feel of the water. There really is a difference proving there is such a thing as 'hard' and 'soft' water. We are very happy we made the decision to get the system with the Reverse Osmosis - I love my coffee, and it is now 100% better flavor with the pure water. We never got a contract. Never signed a contract. The installer just showed up at 11 one morning. The installers were not prepared to put in a French drain so I had to call around to find a place that sold 2-inch rocks. I thought up until the very end the cost was $4,195 less a $600 cash discount. At the end I find out the total cost was $4,195. The cash discount (at least as I understood it) disappeared along the way. Eventually, American Water gave me a price break, but everything was done in a most un-businesslike fashion. 02/09/18 |

I had American Water install a Kinetico water softening system in my home on 01/11/2018. The installation went great, everyone was professional and courteous. The next morning I did notice a minor drip coming from one line. I called their office and they had a technician come out that day and take care of the issue.
