We experienced a problem with a circuit breaker related to our new refrigerator. Nick, Aiello technician, responded to our call, evaluated the problem, and installed a separate line, which solved the problem. Additionally, Nick advised that we change a circuit breaker for our microwave because it was not compatible. Nick was congenial, professional, effective, and most helpful as he completed the work. The actual service was very good, tech was right on time, very accommodating, and completed the job in a very timely manner. The only problem I had, and it may have because I used Aiello’s chat feature to get an estimate and to schedule instead of calling on the phone but the chat person told me someone would contact me in a few hours and no one did. When I get back to them I was asked what the issue was again and then asked to re enter all my contact information and address and was told again someone would contact me and this time they did. WE HAVE CONSISTENTLY RECEIVED TOP-FLIGHT PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FROM AIELLO SINCE THEY INSTALLED OUR AC SYSTEM 9 YEARS AGO. LAST MONDAY WAS NO EXCEPTION. I CALLED AT 9 TO SAY THAT THE SERVICE I THOUGHT I WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE AM WAS ACTUALLY SCHEDULED FOR THE PM. THEY IMMEDIATELY CHECKED AND RE-ROUTED A TECHNICIAN WHO STOPPED BY AT 10. JASON L. WAS TERRIFIC IN EVERY WAY. SPENT 90 MINUTES GOING OVER THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AND EXPLAINING WHY A REPLACEMENT PART WAS NECESSARY. POLITE, WELL INFORMED, THOROUGH. DESTINY C WAS A BIG HELP IN ARRANGING FOR US TO RECEIVE A RECEIPT OF THE SERVICE. OUR EMAIL WAS ACTING UP. SHE TRIED TO SEND IT TWICE TO NO AVAIL. We had a leak develop in a hot water line between floors on a Saturday. Being somewhat handy, I tore up the floor and sub-flooring and had the problem area fully exposed and ready to be worked on when the technician arrived. The repair literally consisted of replacing about 10" of fully exposed and accessible pipe.
The Good:
- Aiello was the only company who could come out and fix the problem that day.
- The technician, Rich Q. was very polite, friendly and did the repair in about a half an our.
- Rich called the office and was able to get the service call fee dropped to $49 (the weekday rate) for me.
The Bad:
-The technician referred to his pricing manual and showed me that the price to fix up to 2.5 feet of 3/4" copper pipe was $587.00! This would be on top of the $199, weekend service call fee. Again, being somewhat handy, I know that the cost of the parts for this job is less than $20 and is only a 1/2 of labor. At this rate, Aiello is charging $1,134 per hour for labor!
I understand that very often plumbers and electricians have to do additional work to gain access to the problem area and certainly that means more labor time. But this is not how Aiello works. They have no labor rate - only rates for specific types of work. This really is price gauging. I fully expected to pay a higher weekend service call fee, but the repair itself should have costed no more than $100 for parts and labor, not $587! Rick Q. 04/23/18 |
